I was hoping you guys could give some thoughts on these two lists for Buckeye Battles.

Some thoughts to keep in mind:

Buckeye is on a pseudo 20-0 system, I need to win by 1500+ before objectives to get high points.

Magic Resistence gives a ward against Instant-death spells. So it might be worth it on my slann or something.

THERE IS A REASON FOR THE SKINK BRAVES. People keep asking me about them: objectives need a command model to be captured, skinks are great at that.

    + Lords +

Slann Mage-Priest (goes in a unit of skinks)
Belcalming Cogitation, Harmonic Convergence, Light, Soul of Stone
AB - The Egg of Quango, BRB - Channeling Staff

    + Heroes +

3 Scar-vet Cowboys, one of which is the BSB
    Skink Priest - Scroll
    Beasts, Level 2

    + Core +

28 Saurus Warriors - Full Command
28 Saurus Warriors - Full Command
    10 Skink Skirmishers - javelins
    Brave
    10 Skink Skirmishers - javelins
    Brave
    10 Skink Skirmishers - javelins

    + Special +

    Bastilidon
    Solar Engine
    6 Chameleon Skinks
    Stalker
6 Cold One Cavalry (Cowboys go here)

    + Rare +

    Salamander Hunting Pack
    Salamander Hunting Pack

This list could change to High Magic, in which case I would drop the level 2 to level 1 and drop the Bastilodon, giving me 150 points for something. Thoughts on the lores?

    + Lords +

    Slann Mage-Priest
Belcalming Cogitation, Focus of Mystery, Harmonic Convergence, High Magic, Soul of Stone
AB - The Egg of Quango, BRB - Channeling Staff

    + Heroes +

    Sarus Scar-Veteran
Battle standard, Great Weapon, Light Armour, Cold One
BRB - Dawnstone, BRB - Dragonhelm

    Sarus Scar-Veteran
    Great Weapon, Cold One
    BRB - Armour of Destiny

    Sarus Scar-Veteran Light Armour
BRB - Charmed Shield, BRB - Luckstone

    Sarus Scar-Veteran Light Armour
    BRB - Enchanted Shield

    Skink Priest Scroll
    Heavens, Level 1

    + Core +

29 Saurus Warriors - Full Command
29 Saurus Warriors - Full Command
    10 Skink Skirmishers - javelins
    Brave
    10 Skink Skirmishers - javelins
    Brave
    10 Skink Skirmishers - javelins

    + Special +

    9 Chameleon Skinks
    Stalker
    7 Cold One Cavalry
    Champion

    + Rare +

    Salamander Hunting Pack
    Additional Handler
    Salamander Hunting Pack

This list could also swap to Light magic, but without having room for a Bastilidon there isnt much magic offense.

Both of these lists use a 3-wide Cold One Bus as a deadly hammer unit. The second list has a worse hammer but better grinding potential from the Foot-vets. Im also considering dropping the Bus for Ripperdactyls and just having Solo Cowboys.

Id appreciate all thoughts and comments

I like the second list overall, in large part because I am not totally sold on Light magic. It will be good in some match-ups, mediocre in others. The second list has a lot more flexibility with magic since you can switch out your spells as needed. With the 2 big saurus blocks, I think this is important -- grab Wildform and those Saurus Warriors suddenly become much nastier.

Where do these 2 lists comp for banding purposes?

Keep in Mind either of these Lists could use Light or High Magic. If the first List had High magic (and dropped the Bastilodon for something) Would your opinion change?

Both of these are in the bottom of Band 2 (8-8.5)

As I mentioned on DT's Buckeye list thread, it is very difficult to provide constructive feedback given the comp restrictions/rules. I briefly scanned the pdf rules on the website and I have a headache just thinking about it :D While I am all in favour of the intent of comp restrictions, this seems overly complex but if it works, go for it! With that in mind, here are a few ideas that I will toss out there for consideration:

    1) Basillydon - replace with a steggie if points are available from elsewhere or 3 x krox/rippers if not. With a slaan and priest, all the dice will go to their casting and the initiative boost is not worth it.

    2) High magic and loremaster -unless this has a massive comp downside, it is far superior to light.

    3) 2 units of 5 chameleons vice 9 with the caveat of comp obviously an issue - more deployments and ability to split fire.

That's about all I can think of for the moment. Good luck and have fun at the tourney.

Aside from the Lore, the 2 lists are pretty similar. Setting aside the magic choice, I like list 2 because the foot Scar Vets add punch to your infantry.

In the List with a Bastilodon, If i swapped to high magic I would drop the Bast for 2x2 Swarms. So if the Lores are the same one has foot-vets while the other has a 3rd cowboy and swarms.

I know the Lists are similar, basically I made a list of everything I felt I needed to bring for my playstyle and what Im used to using, and It was about 2100 points. So I had 400 points left for differences
