Alright I play at a place with a heavy Chaos meta Lots of warriors and some Nurgle Demons. Throw in some O&G (that dude uses the whole book) and some various other player playing the other armies. Here is my list critique and all the usuals. Also Names for the unnamed units won't go amiss. Lords- Slann Mage Priest Mon'Ta'muna BSB-Standard of Discipline Channeling rod Disciplines- Higher state of Consciousness, Harmonic Convergance, Becalming Cogitation, Wandering Deliberations. Heroes Scar-vet Kor-ta-rok Armor of destiny Great weapon Skink Priest Quanzitapili Lore of heavens lvl. 1 Dispel scroll Skink Priest Kackotozi Lore of beasts lvl. 1 Cube of Darkness Core Spawning of the Moon Ascendant 29 saurus full command Spawning of the Ancients Wrath 30 Saurus Full command Patrol 1 10 Skink Skirmishers Patrol 2 10 Skink Skirmishers Special (does anyone know how to say spike in Lustrian.) Bastilidon Solar Engine The Guardian of the Moon 30 Temple Guard. Full command War Banner Sword of Striking on The Guardian Rare Ancient Stegadon Sharpened Horns
Ok here are my thoughts 1. Take the Skavenpelt Banner and the Razor Standard Ok, if you are facing a bunch of Chaos Warriors and O& G, you might want to give your temple guard the Razor Standard for that extra -1 Armor Piercing goodness and put the Skavenpelt banner on your Slann for Frenzy. This should give them a load more of attacks (which works well with predatory fighter) and will really help beat those blocks of warriors or hordes of Orks. It's a lot more point intensive, you'll need to drop the Standard of Discipline, but it will be worth it. 2. Ancient Steggadon I'm assuming that has Engine of the Gods on it. 3. Bastilidon You know, I'd say drop it personally. Especially when you have so many other places to put your power dice into this list. That or swap it out for the Ark of Sotek and look at running some Jungle Swarms. Then you can combo your Saurus into having Poison Attacks.
No,it gives you Frenzy period. The unit also gains hate against Skaven, but the Frenzy is independent
Skavenpelt gives the unit frenzy. It's just if you do happen to be vs'ing skaven, you'll slaughter them a little easier! How do you deal with artillery? I just built the list and it comes out at 2558. Is army builder wrong or 50 points is np in your play group? Just having alook I'd drop one of the saurus blocks and use the points make the other block horde(43) with spears and get yourself a chief on a terradon with toys, egg and gamblers armour with spear and shield. The razor standard is going to generate alot more then +1 to combat res against WoC. S5, 6 if you get a wyssan's off, takes them to almost no AS at all
Few things. 1. The ancient is just a regular ancient with sharpened horns. 2. Yes you are right I had too many points remove 4 Temple guard and we are there Lords- Slann Mage Priest Mon'Ta'muna BSB Skavenpelt Banner Channeling rod Disciplines- Harmonic Convergance, Becalming Cogitation, Wandering Deliberations. Heroes Scar-vet Kor-ta-rok Armor of destiny Great weapon Skink Priest Quanzitapili Lore of heavens lvl. 1 Dispel scroll Skink Priest Kackotozi Lore of beasts lvl. 1 Cube of Darkness Core Spawning of the Moon Ascendant 29 saurus full command Spawning of the Ancients Wrath 30 Saurus Full command Patrol 1 10 Skink Skirmishers Patrol 2 10 Skink Skirmishers Special (does anyone know how to say spike in Lustrian.) Bastilidon Solar Engine The Guardian of the Moon 26 Temple Guard. Full command Razor Standard Rare Ancient Stegadon Sharpened Horns Does that look better. Also warmachines play almost no part in my meta there is the occasional hellcannon and doomdivers but that's about it it.
No cannons? I'd have like 2 ancient stegs, a carno and 2 blastidons. But seriously, you should look at bringing your core down to around 650ish points and use the other 200 for a few sallies with extra snack. Or try out a unit of rippas, you get a toad marker, which can make your opp afraid of 3/4 little flyers. But combined with the rest of your army they would be amazing at flank charging any cc you are in. They get a crazy amount of attacks, and KB means you can randomly just take out characters, deny ranks and they bring stomps.
I've found the Bastiladon priceless with temple guard. Init 3 is so much better than init 2. Init 3 strikes before savage orc big uns, and strikes before Chimeras.
Yeah Also Ogres, Plaguebearers and host of other things. Also with the damned Purple sun that I constantly see I 3 sounds a lot better than I 2
Skavenpelt banner gives Frenzy (against everything) and Hatred (skaven), but Skaven only get hatred against the bearer, not the unit the bearer is in; as they cannot hit the slann, the skaven get no benefit from the banner.
Well after the first game i can say this list worked pretty Well Kor-ta_rok has claimed the heads of a Beastlord, a beastmen BSB, A great bray Shaman and a Unit champion. The skink priests did nothing useful other than drawing fire. 1 single skink from patrol one has now earned the name Solid skink after he held on his own and then chased down and killed a unit of 3 ungor raiders (yes they were already fleeing but so what it was a 12" charge he earned it. The Bastilidon killed 2 razorgors and a bray shaman the 2nd skinks claimed 12 bestigors and a chariot. The Ancient stegadon claimed 16 bestigors and a chariot. The spawning of the ancients wrath however was brutal murdered by a chariot and the bestigors. All in all a fun functional list.
