Hi there, would like comments on this list - especially how to improve the list against armour heavy armies.

    LORD:
Slann: Soul of Stone, Focus of Mystery, BSB, Banner of Swiftness, Obsidian Amulet, Higher State of Consciousness, Channeling Staff, Harmonic Convergence.

    HEROES:
Skink Chief: Ancient Stegadon w. Sharpened Horns, Enchanted Shield, Spear, Egg of Quango
    Gor-Rok
    Skink Priest: DS

    CORE:
    36 Saurus: FC, HW+S
    10 Skink Skirmishers
    10 Skink Skirmishers
    10 Skink Skirmishers

    Special:
    Bastiladon: Solar Engine

    Rare:
    Ancient Stegadon: Sharpened Horns
    2 Salamanders + Snack
    2 Salamanders

    Total points: 2499

I really like Gor-Rok since he gives some great damage output, is resilient and adds stubborn to my Saurus block for cheap. I was considering Tetto'ekko instead though, forces the enemy to move around since they don't want to be bombarded by comets... but maybe that is going overboard with magic. Not sure what the Basti synergizes with so that might be the weakest link. Maybe I should switch it for some Terradons so I could hunt warmachines?

I like the idea of 2 Ancients, and Gor-Rok is almost an auto include when special characters are allowed. I do think the Bastiladon synergizes well with armies that don't take Light, to mitigate Purple Sun and Pit of Shades somewhat.

I think you touched on the main problems with the list yourself, armour and warmachines. I'd probably try to fit in some strength 7 somewhere, so here's what I'd do:

    1. Drop 2 Sallies, the Skink Chief and the Sharpened Horns upgrades and put the 2nd Ancient Steg in your rare allotment.

    2. Add an Armor of Destiny+Great Weapon Mounted Scar-Vet, to combat Demigryphs and the like, and throw in 3 Terradons.

I'd then commit the Scar-Vet to battle whatever you intended to use the Sharpened horns impact hits on and use the Stegadons for what they do best, breaking infantry.

Anyways, just my take on it, though I can certainly see the appeal of your list.

    Thanks Dunya, good feedback man!

I would love taking a cowboy, but Gor-Rok takes up a lot of points and my Skink Chief Build works really well and is a staple of my army so I would hate to let it go. I see your point with the Basti... but I was still considering dropping it and bringing some Kroxies for S7... but they're expensive too, 1 Basti = 3 Kroxies and I don't think that's enough, I would need at least 6 Kroxies for them to be effective... so in the end the cowboy might be the best choice. I could cut 1 sally and the basti and see If I could squeeze in a cowboy.

I've been taking a look at this again, and I really think it has potential.

I do have an idea for a spinoff based on the same concept:

Slann: BSB, Channeling Staff, Harmonic Convergence, Becalming Cogitation, Light

Skink Chief: Ancient Stegadon w. Sharpened Horns, Enchanted Shield, Light Armor, Spear, Luckstone, Egg of Quango
Skink Priest: Level 2 Heavens, Dispel Scroll
Scar-Vet: Armor of Destiny, Cold One, Great Weapon

    36 Saurus: FC, Spears
    10 Skink Skirmishers
    10 Skink Skirmishers
    10 Skink Cohort - Standard

    6 Kroxigor
    6 Chameleons
    6 Chameleons

    Ancient Stegadon: Sharpened Horns
    Salamander
    Salamander

    Total points: 2500

Addresses some of the issues, chameleons provide a mild counter to warmachines, and I've included lots of S7 to chew through armor. I figured the Saurus in a 6x6 or 9x4 formation ought to be a tough nut to crack even without Gor'rok, I don't know if the initial intention was a horde formation?
