I know that it sounds crazy, but I want to run a list without a slann. I am a new Lizardmen player but have been playing WHFB for a while now. The reason I don't want a slann is because it feels like it is "forced" into every list, and I hate being forced into a lord choice. I also don't really care for the model much either, I do however like the Kroq Gar one though... Anyways back to the original topic:

    Hero
Skink Priest- EotG, Plaque of Tepok, Lvl 2= 405
    Skink Chief- BSB= 80
Skink Priest- Cube of Darkness, Lvl 2= 140
( I know that an all skink command is risky, but they are cheap and I try to keep them out of the fight as much as possible)

    Core
46 Skinks- 1 Kroxigor, Musician= 291 (krox is in there for the bonuses to Ld and stuff)
    40 Saurus- Musician, St bearer= 458
    30 Saurus- Musician, St bearer=348

    Special
    10 Chameleons=120
    10 Chameleons=120
    3 Terradons=90
    3 Terradons=90

    Rare
    Salamander- Extra skink= 80
Ancient Steg= 275 ( This can go out easily, I just need to know what to replace it with)

I have played with a variant of this list once against an O&G player and did fairly well, this is after the changes from that first list. I am open to any and all suggestions! Except for slann related ones :) . Thanks in advance!

It's a middle of the road list, not likely to get big wins if the other play is good, not likely to get big losses either.

Keeping in your theme: Replace the ancient steg with a boat load of salamanders and scar vets on cold ones to give you a bit more fireworks to your anvil heavy list.

I know you said you wouldn't but: I would replace the Ancient Steg and 10 Saurus with a Slann who is etheral on the lore of light or shadow (combaty)

*also for god sake protect your BSB: 4+ ward save or bunker or a load of magical defense items.

BSB is important even if cold-blooded.

I would add at least one more Kroxigor to the skrox unit. I would also add more salamanders. Just in case I run across a gunline army, I would break up one of those chameleon units (or both) into seperate units of 5 or 6. This would help in several ways. You can still send both of the units toward one target while making any ranged attacks or spells that target the unit have to choose one or the other.

If you do not want a slann, that's cool. You should consider Tetto'etto (or whatever his name is). He is worth his points. You can put him in a unit of skinks to protect him.

Thanks for the advice guys. I can replace the stegadon with more salamanders, but I am limited to 2 units at 2500, does this mean that I should have multiple sallys in a unit? From reading the forums I found that running them in units of 1 is tactically better. And I would upgrade my hero choices, but I am at 625 which is the max allowance at 2500. Should I drop the second skink priest for a scar vet? I would just hate to lose the one skink priest on EOtG and have no magic. Is EotG really worth it?

Why would I do add another krox to the skrox unit when one gives me all of the bonuses I am looking for? I am not saying that its is a bad idea, I would just like to know why.

I always run my salamanders in units of 2 (only because I do not have enough to run units of 3). There are many reasons why I do this. Primarily, the unit will do more damage and will be more survivable (if I decide to take a charge). The biggest reason would b e that the handlers are shared with the unit! You get 6 handlers instead of 3 or 4.

As to dropping a priest for a scar-vet, I probably would. I run skink heavy armies and usually do not take any scar-vets.

The EOTG is a situational monster. It can be very good or it could go down in the first turn to a cannon/magic. There is no middle ground, it is either very good or very bad. If you are facing an army that the engine hits harder (wood elves and undead I believe) it can be very useful. The 5+ ward save bubble can come in really handy against shooting armies too.

Now, the Kroxigors. I have found in my limited experience (local club) that for some reason, when shooting (cannons, stone throwers) or being the targets of magic (death magic mainly), my opponents really like to target my kroxigor within the skink cohort units. If I take only one, it would be a huge target.

Thanks for the advice Arli. Here is my new list:

    Hero
    Tetteko=255
Skink Chief-BSB=80 (bunkered in or next to skink unit for LoS)
Skink Priest-Lvl2, CoD=140 (CoD is such a good item I just had to have it on my backup wizard)
Scar Vet- Armor of Destiny, GW, Shield=144 (General)

    Core
50 Skinks- Musician=256 (Bunker for Tetteko)
    40 Saurus-Musician, St Bearer=458
    30 Saurus-Musician, St bearer=348

    Special
    5 Chameleons=60
    5 Chameleons=60
10 Chameleons=120 (unfortunately I can only have 3 units in a 2500 so I might just drop them down to skirmishers for the extra points)
    3 Terradons=90
    3 Terradons=90

    Rare
    2 Sallys- handler=155
    2 Sallys- Handler=155

    Total:2411

I have absolutely no idea what to spend the extra points on, I was thinking about upgrading my general to an oldblood, but I would only run an oldblood with a carnosaur. The oldblood on foot just seems like a scar vet with an extra wound.
