So no one ever replied but i remain hopeful!!!!!!!!!! Here we go again.. Lords: Saurus Oldblood - Carnosaur w/loping stride - Enchanted shield - Sword of bloodshed - talisman of endurance This build gives him 8 attacks with predatory fighter without the carnosaur. The infantry will die!!! Heroes lvl 2 skink priest - dispel scroll - beasts Lvl 1 Skink Priest - Beasts Core: 30 Saurus - Fc 10 Skinks 30 Saurus - Fc 10 Skink skirmishers Special: 30 Temple guard - Fc - Sword of swift slaying - Razor standard 3 Terradon riders 3 Terradon riders 3 Terradon riders Bastiladon Rare: 2 Salamanders - extra handler Ok so i changed the list a little bit. I took the light Armour off, changed both saurus units were bumped up to 30. with spare points i added the sword of swift slaying to the revered guardian of the temple guard. This will create an always strikes first Armour piercing champion for challenges. As for the cannons, i have 3 units of terradon riders and a squad of skink skirmishers to deal with war machines. Even if i might be facing dwarfs, high elves and vampire counts (which don't shoot much but the terradon riders could still be useful...)
Take the followign with what ever sized pinch of salt you like (I don't have the rule book with me): 1. No BSB? 2. The carno could be vulnerable to cannons. 3. I know you've got 3 units of terradons, but why only one cohort of skinks? Personally I'd take some skirmishers (with javelins) 4. Not sure how survivable the two blocks of saurus are? If you reduced to one block of c30/35 then you'd have points left for the skirmishers. 5. I think the salamanders have to be fielded either in one unit of three or two units with two in one and one in the other (can only take two of the same unit as special choices I believe). 6. Anyway to fit the cube of darkness on the lvl 1 priest to give you effectively 2 scrolls? Not sure this any much if any help, just my observations. Good luck though.
You could take some Chameleons skinks, to maybe give another way of dealing with cannons. (you could find some of the points by dropping one unit of Terradons) oldblood: 4+ armour save you then place him on a carnosaur: 3+ armor then giving him light armor: 2+ armor and then enchanted shield: essentially making him 0+, altough that is not possible so back to 1+. I would say drop the light armor, as it is unnecessary If you can find the points, maybe a stegadon could be a nice addition, if nothing else, then for target saturation between that and the Carnsaour (if you go all out, the EOTG would give the Carnosaur a 6+ ward save and help casting beast magic on the oldblood). Maybe drop one Salamander too, and stick with a single unit. But I will just finish saying that there is nothing wrong with your list. At the end of the day it comes down to how you play it, how you want to play and if you have fun doing it. If you have a specific plan in mind, stick to it, and do it as best as possible.
so i changed the list. anything new to say?? Thank you guys for replying and please continue to watch this space.
An idea: Ripperdactyles should be effective against cannons too, and if you are playing against elves, for example, the more "combatty" Ripperdactyles might be more usefull than the Terradons. This will only be 15 points more for 3 Ripperdactyles compared to 3 Terradons. You could then, to get the points, drop the sword of swift slaying, and instead give him the shrieking blade, which gives him fear, essentially making the unit cause fear (unless i am misreading some rules). Then you do not have to worry about any terror tests, and might even be able to hit on 3´s in some combats. I would just point out (not that it makes any difference): The Armour of destiny and the Talisman of persevation and Enchanted shield combination. does the exact same thing for the same cost. The only thing that could come up, is the fact that I am not completely sure a shield and a magic weapon can be used alongside one another. maybe making the Armour of destiny better.
