Here a list I prepared to face mostly Ogres as I play pretty much with the same person Slann Mage Priest Focus of Mastery, The Focused Rumination, Higher State of Consciousness & The Becalming Cogitation Battle Standard Bearer, Cupped Hands of the Old Ones Note: Obviously go with the Temple Guards. My opponent always put the Hellheart so my Cupped Hand of the Old Ones will be use against that. Should I swap The Becalming Cogitation for Soul of Stone juste to play safe? Saurus Scrar-Veteran Light Armour, Enchanted Shield & Piranha Blade Note: Go with the Saurus Warriors with Spears Saurus Scrar-Veteran Light Armour, Shield, Dragonhelm & Burning Blade of Chotec Note: Go with the Saurus Warriors 11x Skink Skirmishers (Javelin and Shield) Note: Will "escort" the Salamanders Hunting Pack 11x Skink Skirmishers (Javelin and Shield) Note: Will "escort" the Razordons Hunting Pack 23x Saurus Warriors (Spears, Musician and Standard Bearer) 29x Saurus Warriors (Musician and Standard Bearer) 20x Temple Guards (Mucisian and Standard Bearer) 2x Salamander Hunting Pack (Extra Handler) 2x Razordon Hunting Pack (Extra Handler) Note: Since I will mostly face Ogres, is it better 4 Razordons? 1 Ancient Stegadon Note: I choose Ancient Stegadon for the Impact Hits at Strenght 6 insteat of 5. It got 1 less attack but I think it's better to have stronger impact hits, what do you guys think? Total is 2501 points, I need to remove one single point.. Help! Should I remove the Ancient Stegadon and include 2x 10 Chamelons Skinks? Comments/suggestions are most welcomes!
I do not see that dropping the ancient to a normal would be worth it unless you were really wanting the giant bow. Dont thing that the one extra attack is worth it esp as your having no thunder stomps as it is and theimpact hits will do most the damage. Wounding the rank and file on 2+ is much better! That being said I have found without the thunder stomps the stegadons really struggle so maybe the chamelons are worth a shot? Other than that is there anywhere you could shave points and put the scar vets on coldones? Use them the bail out the unit if they need to and nice bump to their save. Good luck
Well in my opinion a scar vet works better with Helberd against ogres (you have usually highter I stat, 3 vs 2, and hit at strenght 6, i.e. 2+ wounding), put them on cold one and buy some magical armor (AS 1+ and WS 5+/4+). Sally cause panic IF AND ONLY IF they cause CASUALTIES, not just a wound or so, it's hard to kill that savage-3-wounds-beast with sthrenght 3 hits (5+ wounding), razordon wound easyer and more. As usual: if you want to use stegadon you have to use at least 2 of them (they have that damned shooting-chariots remember??) About magic: light could be bettere than life, even shadow works grat! If you plan to buff troops make them bigger (6x5 sauri, or even 6x6), you can't revive them. Hope you win, with or without my advice
Hello, Drop the Spears, Saurus with spears aren't that good. They cost more and loose parry save. And since Ogres rely mostly on Ironuts than this can be a problem. If your ogre opponent has Morunfangs than leave the Burning blade, if not. swap it with Sword of Might. Is he fielding hellheart?? If so than Lore of Lighs or Life will do fine
