Hi! Been playing OnG for ~15 years, now it's time for a new army and Lizardmen have always been close to home (don't ask ;-)). So this list is 2500 pts and the tournament have the ETC-restrictions (for those unfamiliar with the rules: http://warhammer.org.uk/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=100748). Im looking for feedback on the list, remember that it's crucial that the list is going to work against every army list. Slann Mage-Priest, BSB, Fencer's Blades, Cube of Darkness, Dragonbane Gem, Std of Disc, focus of Mystery and Focused rumination (Loremaster and +1 pd/spell) Skink Priest, Ancient Stegadon EotG, Dispel scroll, Dawnstone 33 Saurus Warriors, Hw+S, FC 3 x 12 Skink Skirmishers 3 x 8 Chameleons 2 x 3 Terradons 3 Salamanders Ancient Stegadon -------------------- 2500 pts Thoughts?
I like the list. I am assuming you will take lore of Life as the default lore. I like that you have two stegadons to help take the heat off of just one (EOTG). I also like that you have plenty of options when war machine hunting. Are you planning to put the slann in the unit of Saurus? If so, you should give him the crown of command. Or even add a scar-vet with that in the unit with him. If you do that, you could put the scar-vet and the the unit command in the front rank and the slann in the second rank (not enough room in the front). If you are planning on make the slann solo, then I would recommend making him etheral.
Thx for the feedback Arli! Sry didn't print out that Im going with lore of Life, I find it mandatory when playing 2 stegs. If I weren't playing stegs I would go for Light. The Slann will go with Sauruses if the enemy has War Machines, Purple Sun or Pit of Shades. Otherwise he can go solo, lore of Life helps with healing the odd wound he may be inflicted. Crown of command is a great item, but I dont think it's necessary in this list. The Sauruses will be stubborn against everything if I've played well enough. I think there's a higher chance of the Slann to be killed in cc then of the Sauruses breaking, therefor I have the Fencer's blades instead of the crown. Due to the restrictions I cant make him etheral when having loremaster & focused. I like the idea of the Scar-vet, because my main concern so far has been that the Slann is very fragile to killing blows. With the Slann in the second rank this is ofc not an issue. I'll try it out. Have to drop 3 terradons and 1-2 sauruses to make room for him.
If you are going to field a scar vet, then you can drop the fencer's blades for the slaan since he will be in the 2nd rank. Also, the list has two dispel scrolls which may be overkill given ETC magic restrictions so dropping the regular scroll might be a way of freeing up more points. Finally, I would consider reducing the size of the chameleons by 1-2 each rather than giving up an entire unit of terradons to get the points for the scar vet. This will leave the list with 5 war machine hunting units which should help deal with any gunline in short order. PS - If you do run the slaan solo, keep him within 3" of one of the infantry units and he will get the additional protection of the 4+ look out sir rule. It is a good tactic for drawing fire away from the steggies without exposing the slaan to too much danger.
