8th Ed. 2500, single terradon chief

    Hello,

    I'm gonna to battle against the O&G and i want to test a chief on terradon.
    I have no other terradons so i want to use a single chief on a terradon.
    What is the best equipment for this chief?
    I was thinking about glittering scales (-1 to hit, light armour) and a enhanced item of magic weapon.
    It is a wysiwyg battle so..
    Further i have:
    38 saurus warriors w/ spears
    20 saurus warriors w/ handweapon 'nd shield
    18 skinks w/ blowpipes
    30 skinks w/ javelin 'nd shield
    1 skink chief w/ stegadon warspear
    1 tetto'eko, skink chief
    16 cold one cavalry
    1 saurus scar-veteran on cold one (BSB)
    1 saurus scar-veteran on foot
    1 slann mage priest
    20 temple guard
    2 kroxigors
    1 salamander
    2 jungle swarm bases


    What kind of advice so you guys have for me?

    I'm thinking about:
    2x18 Saurus warriors w/ spears (Full Command)
    1x20 Saurus warriors w/ handweapon 'nd shield (Full Command)
    3x10 Skinks w/ javelins 'nd shields
    1 Slann mage priest w/ Loremaster, Ethereal, Free powerdice (magic items: Book of ashur??,,????)
    14-20 Temple guard w/ magic banner?? (Full Command)
    Ancient stegadon
    Skink chief on stegadon or normal stegadon???
    Saurus scar veteran
    Skink chief

    So tell me your opinions and advices!!

    Don't really need Ethereal if you in the TG.
    But cupped hands is a near must for inside the TG so you don't blow them up.

    Skink chief taking the steg as a mount can be pretty fun especialy with warspear if you can get him to the front alive.

    Anytime you run a Terradon Chief solo, he is going to be very vulnerable. To keep him safe, you will probably need to play hide-and-seek, flying out of the enemy's charge arc/range every turn. So I would outfit him to take advantage of these hit-and-run tactics by giving him the Staff of the Lost Sun. 3 Strength 5 shots will make him a pretty good harasser, and he can still stay relatively safe.

    Hopefully, he'll never be in close combat (unless its against an easy-kill solo wizard), but you can use your remaining points to take an enchanted shield or a Magic Resistance or Ward Save talisman to help him survive ranged attacks or spells.

    Hmm, equipment for a solodon chief you say...
    How bout a casket, oh and also a will.

    I would equip him with the staff of the lost sun and some other gear to protect him from ranged fire and magic.

    Does the staff replace his ranged attack or can he also blowpipe?

    I'd go with the Staff and yes it does replace his blow pipe since he uses it in the shooting phase and not he magic phase.

    I'd also give him a talisman and possibly a shield and armour. This should help him stay alive a bit longer and still be useful. Terrain mask with him to avoid getting charged and to help with shooting. He's primarily a harasser and anti war machine. He's great at the later with stomp from his terradon and his attack profile.
