Here is my current goal list, constantly being edited. I currently have something like 2,000 points of lizards. I am determined to use a Carnosaur, and I love having one with the Stegadon helm. However, I want to use him as a face-smacker, but using my general that way makes me a little nervous. I'm experimenting a bit with Tetto. I know he's pretty overpriced, but I like the idea of Vanguard and getting to slide my monsters in the fray early on. I'm not sure if i want to use him, or another Bastilodon. I keep going back and forth. Lords 1x Saurus Oldblood w/ Carnosaur, Sacred Stegadon Helm of Itza, Light Armor, Piranha Blade Heroes 1x Tetto'eko 1x Skink Priest lvl 2 (heavens) w/ Dispel Scroll, Ruby Ring of Ruin 1x Saurus Scar Veteran w/Cold One, Great Weapon, Light Armor, BSB Core 25x Saurus Warriors w/Spears, full command 25x Saurus Warriors w/Spears, full command 13x Skink Skirmishers 13x Skink Skirmishers Special 3x Ripperdactyls 3x Ripperdactyls 1x Bastilodon (Solar Engine) 1x Stegadon Rare 1x Salamander w/ extra snack 1x Salamander w/ extra snack 2494 points.
Re: 2500 Long-term-goal List Cool slannless monster mash list that can work I think. I would recommend getting another skink chief with the cube of darkness for some more magical defence. I would also suggest merging your 59 saurus into two units instead of three. I would also consider upgrading one of your scar veterans to an old blood. PS I don't know your motivation for not getting a slann, but I would recommend getting this model. It is a highly flexible and very fun character that you can use in a ton of different ways, and it he is the cornerestone in the lizardmen rulebook imo. You will find yourself unable to dispel your opponents magic if they bring a level 4 caster; and they will in a 2500p game!
Re: 2500 Long-term-goal List I was unsure of whether I should run two or three units of Saurus. I may squish them into two. I would love to upgrade a Scar Vet and/or add another priest, but as it is I am pushed up against the point limit for heroes/lords. The main reason I'm not running a Slann is BECAUSE they are so popular, I wanted to see what I could do without one. I'm also not the biggest fan of the models. I did consider running Tetto'eko though. I may well get convinced to take a Slann eventually; I could get rid of the grounded BSB and priest, and have a Slann BSB and some temple guard instead of the cohorts. What I really want to do is have room for another Priest, but I either have to lose the Carnosaur or the BSB, neither of which I want to do completely without. D:
Re: 2500 Long-term-goal List The Lord limit and hero limit are 2 separate limits of 25% each That might free up some space no?
Re: 2500 Long-term-goal List Oooooh... *facepalm* That helps a lot. I will update the list shortly...
Re: 2500 Long-term-goal List Post-derp update; removed a Bastilodon for another Skink Priest, and upgraded the Carnosaur rider to an Oldblood.
Gonna bump this post: made some significant changes. Experimenting with Tetto'eko and vanguard monsters.
why do you say Tetto is overpriced? o.o he's a lv2 priest: that's 50 slaves he has a 5++ save: that's 15 slaves more he's loremaster (our slann has to pay 17,5 slaves to be loremaster) so you pay 10 slaves to: -grant 1s rerolls at casting 5/6 of times for all friendly wizards -reroll dangerous terrains -he goes in cohorts 2° rank (not very useful but still nice) -D3 friendly units can vanguard -lots of casandora rerolls I think he's underpriced, not overpriced!
I suppose that is a good point. Mainly I was just reading around online that he was overpriced for what he does. I played a game yesterday using this list against Tomb Kings. It actually fared pretty well; Tetto's vanguard (I only got 1) allowed me to move in a unit of Ripperdactyls towards his unit of 102 arches and three characters. There were some casting shenanigans and I didn't end up getting there with them, but they were a great distraction to keep them off of my general, all thanks to Tetto's vanguarding. His ward save also saved him, keeping the points away from my opponent. This list was really fun to play. My general managed to survive 102 ranged, BS 3 attacks with poison and armor piercing with 2 wounds remaining, and then proceeded to challenge and eat HIS general.
