Ok so it is a themed list, but I think it would be competetive, what do you think? Additions or subtractions? Critique? The basic strategy is to have the block of saurus and temple guard (with the EOTG inbetween them) go up the middle and clog up the other army main line. The the skink skirmishers can warmachine hunt, or be a meat shield on the flank. Which leaves the two arks and the swarms on the other flank. All units would then be unbreakable or stubborn (besides the skinks) The idea is that one of those main units should break through and get into the flank or rear of the other units long lasting CC. The arks will be adding swarms (hopefully) and letting snakes loose the entire game. Here is the list: Tehenhauin Saurus Scar-Vet (in Saurus horde) -Enchanted shield -seed of re-birth -Crown of command Saurus Scar-Vet (in Temple Guard Unit) -BSB -Skaven pelt banner Gor-Rok (in Temple Guard unit) Skink Priest Lv 1(unit booster/last ditch effort in cc support) -Egg of Quango Saurus Warriors x 40 -full command Skink Skirmishers X 10 -Jav/shield -Champ Skink Skirmishers X 10 -Jav/shield -Champ Temple Guard X 20 -Champ, Std - Standard of Discipline Bastiladon x 2 -Arks of Sotek Jungle Swarms x 4 Ancient Stegadon EOTG -Sharpened Horne's (the list is a bit over points limit so that needs tinkering) So what do you think? Thanks for any and all comments
What are your kit outs? Weapon for the first scarvet, LA shields for the others ect.... There's no reason not to run the swarms as 2 units of 2, far more flexibility. And range since If you want to try increasing their size, means you don't have to have both bastis flanking your 1 unit of swarms to be in range. Egg should def be a scroll. Your magic defense is non excistent in this list without it. Guessing comp isn't an issue for you? Looking at the list I'd prob drop the ancient steg and field 2 units of 1 sally with extra snack and some camos and/or terradons. The ancient will get shot full of cannons by himself, nobody is targeting bastis with cannons and if they do great for you. The problem of Tehen is that all his special rules are for him to be in a unit of jungle swarms. This is a horrible idea as he will die in the first round of combat. You could get lucky and they challenge him letting you run to the back, but Lets assume they don't do that. Your swarms can never see combat with Tehen in them. He's a great beast priest that will hurl amber spears and hex your enemies for the pre cc stage and when he transforms(what else are you using him for?) he can kill things all on his lonesome. Maybe your best magic phase is getting wssyans off and then transforming into a dragon or something. If you don't get kadon he will never be allowed near the front lines, just close enough to cast wyssans. Though if you take a lvl 2 beast priest you can get double wyssans and get kadon on tehen pretty easily. As I read it you will get to keep your Tide of serpents attack, and poison immunity but lose your 5 up ward. Also don't think the saurus need a crown as there is 40 of them. Otherwise looks fun but weak to strong magic and unkillables. No good counter to Dreadlords(big deal nobody has that) and monsterous cav. Which makes me rethink the stegg, but still think it's to much of a focus on it's own in this list.
I kitted the saurus as such: Scar vet- -enchanted shield -LA -GW -seed of re-birth -crown of command The BSB scar vet -LA -Shield -extra hand weapon I agree that Tehenhauin is pretty squishy when it comes to cc, but if i run him in the second rank he can still cast out of the unit b/c swarms don't block line of sight, and then he shouldn't be in the front rank for cc to get squished. The reason I ran one big unit of swarms is because Tehenhauin makes them unbreakable, which is the point of putting him in that unit, so I think it would be a waste to only have two swarms in one unit that will surely get squished in the first round of combat against any unit with more than 5 attacks. With 4 swarms and 2 chances each round to add another I thought that it would be a really stable unit that is unbreakable and giving my main line saurus poison attacks. The steg i feel is a must to boost the Saurus units defense, and to have burning ailment on all the close units once the saurus are tied up in cc. I would love to add sallies or rippers or cameo but I just didnt see any ways to cut on the idea of the list. But maybe my idea is flawed...
Being the only character in the unit of swarms, he has to go in the front rank. Which is why he quickly gets killed, which takes away the no-squish rule. He's ok, but not great. He's just a slightly over-priced level 3 wizard. Seeing as it's our only option, that makes it viable. Just don't put him in with swams, you'll regret it. -Matt
Well, I agree however that kills the "theme" of the list. And it leaves me with swarms that arn't anywhere near as solid as they would be if they had the unbreakable rule. That being said the whole dynamic of the use of snakes changes, ie i dont think i need two arks of sotek...or maybe not Tehenhauin for that matter. Or maybe there is a list to be had using him that I am not seeing. at the end of the day im more about playing a fun list anyways, and I think he would be fun to at least try.
