Saurus Oldblood, Warrior Bane, Talisman of Preservation, Hide of the Cold Ones - 245 Pts. Saurus Scar-Veteran, Halberd, CO, Venom of the Firefly Frog, Glyph Necklace - 149 Pts. Skink Priest, Scroll, Lore of Heaven - 90 Pts. Skink Priest, Cube of Darkness, Lore of Heaven - 105 Pts. 37 Saurus Warriors, M, S - 425 Pts. 10 Skink Skirmishers - 70 Pts. 10 Skink Skirmishers - 70 Pts. 12 Skinks - 60 Pts.(bunker for priests) 30 Temple Guards, M, S - 501 Pts. 9 Cold One Cavalry, M, S - 345 Pts. 1 Salamander - 75 Pts. Total: 2500
I don't think Hide of the Cold Ones is remotely worthwhile. Armour of Destiny plus Dawnstone costs less and is better. I don't think warrior bane is worth having either - I'd rather have a halberd.
Agreed. It all depends on what you want him to do. If he is there to protect your Slann I would humbly suggest Fencer's Blades and Glittering Scales on a Cold One with the Dawnstone. Most opponents will be hitting him on 6s with a 1+ rerollable armor save (and your Slann would be healing him with Lifebloom every turn). As an added bonus your TG would cause Fear. If you are worried about losing the look out sire, swap the Dawnstone for the Talisman of Preservation or deploy the Old Blood with the Cold One Cavalry when facing cannon wielding armies. If you just want him to add CR for your infantry i'd go Armor of Destiny and a great weapon or Halberd. Since your bunker is protecting two priests, it's probably worth the extra points to put a champion in to make suicidal challenges, and a musician in case the block has to rally for any reason. I am a fan of large Temple Guard but with a Life Slann, 30 might be a bit unnecessarily high. You could drop a few TG and use the freed up points to buy some magic banners. Your Slann, TG, and Cold One Cavalry can all take magic banners so you have a rich opportunity to go nuts with magic standards that LM players don't often get. A single Salamander should probably take an extra handler so you can handle a max damage misfire and still have a crewman left over.
with the old blood i need him to have a magic weapon as there will be alot of ethereal around. the other build i had was oldblood hide of the coldones glyph necklace voff halberd. I cant really put him on a coldone as much as i would like to as i would have to drop some stuff on the slann due to points how many temple guard would you surgest? ive tried 20 but they never survive drawn out combats/miscasts
I always run with 20 and seem to do ok. If you drop yours to 26 you'll still have enough to field them with a max rank bonus and you can put some more points elsewhere. 26 TG is also the magic number where you can run them 5x6 or 6x5 with a Slann. Getting a magic banner for either them or the Slann would be the best use of the points.
Ok cool with have a play around. Im really happy with the oldblood i have tested it many times against my friends fav vamp Vlad and beat him everytime. he was wounding the oldblood on 4s as his sword make him strength 6 then i had a 4+armour save 4+ward he only ever got 1 wound through.
