I went draw, major victory, massacre with this list. The winner of the tournament drew against me and went massacre, massacre... My list was Slann, 3 disciplines, cupped hands, banner of swiftness, banehead (which was useless) shadow Priest, cube 3 scar vets (gw, destiny) (gw, la, amulet of itzl, dragon helm, votff) (chotec, la, dawnstone, charmed shield) These were incredibly versatile and went in completely different places to do different things each game (hunt swordmasters, protect tg, protect saurus) 50 saurus warrior block, horded sometimes 10 skinks 22 TG, musician, huanchi's blessed totem... With the banner of swiftness, surprise attacks we frequent... 2x5 chameleons 2x2 salamanders... Mvps... Shadow lowered toughness and bam. Critiques?
Overall, looks like a pretty solid list with that block of saurus being able to hold up just about anything for quite some time and, if any hexes/buffs get off, to really lay a beating on something. That being the case (and judging from the success the list did have) I can only suggest a couple tweaks. Given that the slaan had shadow and there are 3 scar vets, the ability to teleport via the lore attribute was wasted since the slaan was in TG and is not allowed to leave the unit. I think it might have been useful to take either another lore or replace the TG with another block of saurus. Also, 1-2 more chaff units of skinks works well with shadow when the withering spell gets off on high value targets with low armour saves like ogres, minotaurs, most big monsters, etc. The other advantage is that this would also give another unit to hide the skink priest in with the potential of using a couple successful castings to put a scar vet in the unit via smoke & mirrors.
Yeah, i do think 2x40 saurus is better than my current setup... Unfortunately, i do not have the models... The 50 saurus basically can receive their worse matchups and win after my magic phase.
Good list. Banehead for the SLann is mainly for Death Slann. Other than that you had a lot of good synergy for a Shadow Slann centered list. Teleporting the Slann around isn't usually critical.
