Hey, guys.. I'm playing against Empire later today. I'm uncertain about what he's bringing other than the usual stuff. No STank, at least. Probably a Luminark, Runefang, Demigryphs, Cannon or two, Lore of Light wizards, etc. I'm running something like... Saurus Oldblood Cold One Piranha Blade Dawnstone Potion of Strength Charmed Shield General Saurus Oldblood Sword of Bloodshed Luckstone The Other Trickster's Shard Enchanted Shield Light Armor Saurus Scar-Veteran Cold One Armor of Destiny Great Weapon Saurus Scar-Veteran Battle Standard Bearer Skavenpelt Banner Halberd Light Armor Shield Skink Priest Lv 2 Dispel Scroll Lore of Beasts 3 units of 12 Skink Skirmishers Javelin/Shield 13 Skink Skirmishers Blowpipes 38 Saurus Warriors Full Command Spears Bastiladon Solar Engine 7 Cold One Riders Full Command Spears 3 Ripperdactyls 5 Kroxigor Kroxigor Ancient It's something like that, anyway. I don't have it in front of me. So, a couple of things: 1) Is Lore of Beasts good here? I don't run it often in favor of Heavens. It seems like I'll be able to regularly take advantage of the attribute with this list, however, plus it meshes with the high character count. Still, I love Heavens and know that it'd be useful. That said... 2) If I do drop Beasts, should I nix the Priest and adopt Tetto'eko? I've never used him before. It seems like his Vanguard stuff could help this list. 3) Halberd on the BSB? Not much of a big deal, just curious to see your thoughts - he'll be the last to take challenges, etc. 4) I only have 3 Rippers, sadly. Experimenting with COR, too. 5) Very much aware that my Oldbloods don't have ward saves. I don't intend to change that. I find the stacking of ward saves in lieu of offensive power to be very boring. I gave one to my Scar Vet so he could tank for the Oldblood. So, yeah, anything that I need to be very careful of? Thoughts, advice and criticism appreciated!
1) to the beast lore: yeah, should be usefull. as you said charactercount and stuff like COR and krox (?) should play well with it. 2) <3 tetto. here again, vanguard could help. if your enemy is rather static, denying areas with comet would help out and ofc... moar spells= moar flexibility 3) i dont get why halberd and shield. isnt a halberd 2 handed? 4) buffed COR sound tasty without beast i think its only good against low S units for the good armorsave *shrugs* 5) your army, your rules as long as they dont have a lot of high S units or you want to deal with them another way... what i personally dont get, why do you use such weird numbers on the skirmishers? youre just 1 skink away to field another unit. more stuff to put on the table, which is nice in deployment to get later to your important troops, gives more flexebility, the units cost less when wiped out, so you got more space for failure while rederecting, you have 1 more unit to move around... yeah. i feel like 1 skink could give you better options... if im wrong with my assumptions plz correct me for i have 0 games under my belt yet xD im a total noob and im eager to learn ^__^
My bad! The actual list was... Saurus Oldblood Cold One Piranha Blade Dawnstone Potion of Strength Charmed Shield General Saurus Oldblood Sword of Bloodshed Luckstone The Other Trickster's Shard Enchanted Shield Light Armor Saurus Scar-Veteran Cold One Armor of Destiny Great Weapon Saurus Scar-Veteran Battle Standard Bearer Skavenpelt Banner Halberd Light Armor Shield Skink Priest Lv 2 Dispel Scroll Lore of Beasts 3 units of 10 Skink Skirmishers Javelin/Shield 13 Skink Skirmishers Blowpipes 37 or 38 Saurus Warriors Full Command Spears Bastiladon Solar Engine 7 Cold One Riders Full Command Spears 3 Ripperdactyls 5 Kroxigor Kroxigor Ancient Anyway, I nearly tabled him! We rolled up Dawn Attack, and I had the unfortunate task of going first. CoR made it into combat on turn 2 and lasted all the way 'til turn 6, killing all manners of stuff and making their points back. The game went extremely well. May write up a Bat Rep this weekend (if I have time). Gonna try an alternate version with less Saurus, no Skink Priest, and Tetto'eko just for giggles.
