Hey all, I've joined into a small tournament with a semi-fixed list ruling where you know your opponents in advance. Long story short is I need to cook up a list and play against Orcs, High Elves, and VC before I'm allowed to make any changes (other than switching lores and changes to magic items/character equipment) Here's what I'm planning Lords: 500 pts Lord Munditep AKA Slannibal Lecter: BSB, Standard of Discipline, Becalming, Harmonic, Soul of Stone, Focus of Mystery, Chanelling Staff, Egg of Quango Heroes: 400 pts ScarV Cowboy #1 CO, LA, Dawnstone, Sword of Might, Charmed Shield ScarV Cowboy # 2 CO, GW, Armour of Destiny Skink Priest Scroll Caddy Core: 636 pts 36 Saurus + command (leaning towards spears) 10 skink skirm w/ javelins 10 skink skirm w/ javelins 10 skink skirm w/ blowpipes Special: 544 pts 26 Temple guard + Command + banner of eternal flame 4 Terradons Rare: 418 pts Ancient Stegadon + Sharpened Horns Salamander + extra handler Salamander + extra handler Total 2498 pts Against the orcs, I know the player well, and know I'm going up against a savage orc death star with a 5+ ward and MR. I'm also expecting to see Manglers, oump wagons, Rock Lobbas a big block of Black Orcs, and a bunch of chaff that concerns me little. I'm thinking high magic for this one. Between terradon bombing runs and skink shooting, I doubt the manglers will get far. That frenzied death star is jut begging to be redirected. The HElves will likely have a big block of Phoenix Guard as a wizard bunker and way more than a reasonable amount of missile troops (3-4 eagle claws too!). I'd like to run Lore of Light to give me some cover from the shooting and buffs to crush in melee, but I'm concerned that spamming small light spells will just make the Book of Hoeth dispelling more efficient. (More spells is more rerolls for them!) For VC, frankly, I have no idea. Lore of Death sounds like a fun idea. Thoughts?
