8th Ed. 2500p Carnosaur-build - viable in 8th?

    Hi all!

    I'm new to this forum, though I've skimmed through the threads a lot here lately.

    Is it possible to make a decent army with a carnosaur nowadays?
    I think that its clear that magic have gotten a prominent role in every army in 8th ed
    and almost everyone runs a lvl4 ( especially for Lizardmen).

    I've had quite a good run with a tooled up fighter general in my O&G list (though only on a boar)
    So my thought are if killer characters might be something.

    Anyway, stacked up a list with my current models to see your opinions.

    The list looks viable to me. The big question is are you comfortable playing with only the lore of heavens? If the answer is yes, then having 5/7 spells from the lore and 2 mages should be more then okay to deal a fair amount of magical havoc.

    On a side note, I recommend putting your Kroxigors in units of skinks. Doing so will protect them from missile fire and give punch to your units of skinks. 2 units of 24/3 or 3 units of 16/2 should be what you are looking for.

    Finally, try to find the points for those extra handlers for your sallies!

    Anyone having experience with the skrox units? On paper I feel that the skinks will just get squished in combat while the korx
    miss out on their stomp... I havent tried them out though

    A carnosaur saurus build is still playable in 8. I like the chameleon skinks but you should drop it down to 8 instead of 9 for deployment purposes to get in a more useful area. The small unit of pteradons is nice too.I also like adding the skink-croc unit. I run at least 1 in every game.
    Why no didem of power or other defensive magic item like the Cube of Darkness to guard your army in their magic phase with this weak magic build?
    I thought you couldn't put a magic item with a battle standard bearer other than a magic standard?

    I like your list! :D Only things I'd change would be to try and get in an other saurus block, those guys are just plain awesome, mabye trade it in for a skrox unit? And getting the cube of darkness instead of a scroll might be nice as well.

    @Oldblood62: You can have magic items and a BSB on one model, the only thing not allowed is having both a magic standard and magic items on your BSB. Unless ofcourse the BSB is a Slann :p

    It should say so in the Army book actually, and that he even should be able to ride a terradon and carry other mundane equipment as well
