Hi guys, I have a tournament comming up soon and I was hoping you guys could give me some advice here in tightening this list. Thanks in advance. The Trickster Army =================== Lord ------- Slann Lore of Life Cube of Darkness Focus of Mystery Focued Ruminations Saurus Old Blood Great Weapon Light Armor Other Trickster Shard Armor of Destiny Hero ------- Tetto'eko Special Character Skink. General Summery: Has lore master of Heavens, allows you to redeploy D3 of your units, casts irresistibly if you roll doubles. Saurus BattleStandard Light Armor Dragon Helm Crown of Command Core ---------- 24 Saurus with Spears 24 Skinks with 3 Kroxigors 24 Skinks (Tetto'eko's body guard) 10 Skink Skirmishers 10 Skink Skirmishers Special ---------- 21 Temple Guard Iron Curse Razor Standard Rare -------- Salamander Salamander Strategy: 1. Since I am going to be fighting largely against Ogres, Empire, Warriors of Chaos, and High Elves (popular armies in my neck of the woods) I've tried to tailor this list more to fight them. 2. Magic wise, my plan is to open by spamming the Comet of Cassandora and using it to clear out as much chaff as possible (Eagles, Sisters of Avalon, Sabercat thingies). If there isn't much chaff to clear out I switch to dwellers. Then when I'm in combat, I switch to pushing out as many buffs as possible. 3. My Saurus Old Blood is tailored to kill characters. Him and my BSB are going to go into the Saurus Spear Unit and act as a weak deathstar like unit whose main purpose is to deal with things like Steamtanks. Anyways what do you guys think?
hey mate looks solid altho id recommend -extra handlers on ur sallies -maby drop the spears? im a big fan of HWS but ur call (6++ is pretty goood hahah) other then that looks alright mate hope u win haha!
Ogres and High Elves will probably be doing the charging into your Saurus, so the Spears should work good for them. You have your Old Blood wearing two pieces or armor (Light Armor and Armor of Destiny) Unfortunately, if you're running a great weapon, you can't get your armor save down to 1+. You might want to use the points you get back for your Light Armor on something like the Seed of Rebirth to give your Old Blood a bit of a regen ward. If your plan for Life is to use Dwellers and Flesh to Stone, I prefer the Lore of Metal. Final Transmutation is cheaper, and works better against high strength armies than Dwellers. It has 2 spells to help you against WoC's armor. Glittering Robes works better than regrowth for your Skrox unit (who regrows skins, anyways?) and Enchanted Blades works great for either the Saurus or Skrox. Lore of Light might work well against your opponents, as well. Instead of Lore of Life's "stay alive as long as possible" stragegy, Lore of Light gives you a "kill them before they kill all of you" strategy. Speed of Light and Timewarp make the Saurus and Skrox deadly (even the Skinks aren't too shabby at WS10) Net of Amyntok works great against the High Elves (even the unit with the stupid banner) and Pha's Protection helps keep the bolt throwers at bay. And Light of Battle helps out if you are using your Skink Skirmishers to do some double-fleeing. Lord of Life isn't bad, I just think you leave a lot on the table if you are relying on just the base stats of the Saurus and Kroxigor to deal out all the damage and only using your Slann to keep them alive.
Ok cool, I'm adding in the extra skink handlers and I corrected my mistake with adding in light armor. (Whoops) As for the lore, I guess I can switch it out but that means giving up the Cube of Darkness for Cupped Hands to keep my Temple Guard alive. I guess it would work, just makes me a bit uncomfortable. Metal, I don't know. Both High Elves and Empire have low strength so Dwellers works pretty swell against them alrem, while I have to roll 6 to eat up Ogres with Final Transmutation (5+ for Dwellers) Glittering Robes will help my skinks a lot though and the armor piercing is nice. Lore of Light... err it can also help a lot, but it doesn't have much to take down Ogres or Chaos Warriors. Also, I do have Lore of Heavens to dish out damage... so I'm not sure if I should drop Life or not.
Definitely go with whatever Lore you feel most comfortable with! Especially since you have a Heavens Loremaster, you'll be in better shape than if you just had a Lv 1 or 2 Priest. I've been running my Slann in a unit of skirmished skinks, so I don't worry about protecting them with Cupped Hands. (I use the Forbidden Rod to turn a poor magic phase into an amazing magic phase) Army makeup helps to inform lore choice as well. I'm interested in hearing how your Comet spamming goes. I've only ever had 1 comet land before, and by the time it crashed, everything had moved out of the way. I play Chaos Dwarfs a lot, and he bunkers up in a little corner. I think it would be fun to drop a bunch of comets on him, and watch as he scrambled to get away with his little dwarf legs.
Thanks So far when I do comet spam, my odds of getting it in go dramatically up because Tette'ekko allows you to reroll the comet coming in die. So I can usually gueerentee a nice 2D6 Str5 hit a turn
