So with the release of Chaos Warriors, the tournament that is in March will be full of chaos players i am guessing, I would like some opinions on if my army needs any changes for that possibility, but also i need the flexability to play other armies that dont use the simular style....if that makes sence?? Slann Mage-Priest, Focused Rumination Focus of Mystery Unfathomable Presence Cupped Hands o.t Old Ones Divine Plaque of Protection Skink Priest Dispel Scroll Plaque of Tepok Level 2 Wizard Scar Veteran Shield of the Mirrored Pool Light Amour Sword of Battle Saurus Warriors x 40 (8x5) Full Command Spears + Shields Saurus Warriors x 28 (7x4) Full Command Hand Weapon + Shields Skinks x 38 + 3 Kroxigors Temple Guard x 20 Full Command Razor Standard Charlmealon x 6 Salamander Hunting Pack x 2 any feed back welcome Cheers
Good start! I know from your intro that this is a newer army for you, so I'll go easy. There are a few common mistakes on the characters. On your Slann, Unfathomable Presence is a sub-par discipline. He would be much better with Becalming Cogitation. Also the Divine Plaque of Protection is likely not needed when he is bunkered in Temple Guard. They already provide him with a 2+ Look Out Sir save on top of his 4+ Ward save, so you are a little excessive there. But that's your call. The Skink Priest cannot have both the Dispel Scroll and the Plaque of Tepok since they are both arcane items. He can only have one or the other. (I used to make this mistake too... ) Since your Slann is a Loremaster, the Skink Priest will likely not be casting very often, so I'd drop the Plaque. Your Scar-Vet's gear is probably a little weak. The mirror shield is good but magic missiles aren't very common nowadays unless you are facing someone with the Lore of Fire. Dig around the tactics thread and you'll find some better builds for him. Finally, you are missing a Battle Standard Bearer. You can buy it as an upgrade for your Slann, which is the best idea. Either that or you can give it to the Scar-Vet. The ability to re-roll leadership tests is quite substantial. The rest of the army looks good though! The only common thing you are missing is some Skirmishers, but you don't necessarily need them.
So I read through the list, and then I realized everything I wanted to comment on Qupakoco already mentioned. Basically I second everything he said. Nice job. As far as how this shapes up against the new WoC, I dont really know. Nobody really knows what the new strong tournament builds are going to be for them, but I think you have a good start on a list that can fight anyone. The only thing I will emphasize from Qupakoco's comments is that skirmishers can be very useful. Often an opponent will have a frightening monster or huge block of unkillable chosen / warriors / skullcrushers / etc where it isnt worth it to fight head to head. Having 10 skinks set up as redirectiors can let you ignore the huge expensive things while you engage the rest of the army.
Yep you are right, I have only had my lizardmen for 1 year now, and i havent even had a battle with them. which is quiet sad. my WE usually get to go only because they are painted. but im changing that for this tournament thanks alot for the advice. another question. I have given my temple guard the Razor Banner, if i go with giving the slann the BSB what banner would you give him??
Ohh the skirmishers.. I always take quite a few units myself and my opponents HATE them. I cannot count the number of Giants units of 10 skirmishers have taken out, sometimes in a single round too Anyways I would never leave home without atleast a few units of skirmishers. You don't have to give your Slann a banner really. But if you want to the Discipline or the War banner are always solid choices
