Hi! It's been a while since I posted a list here, but I just came up with this and wanted to know how you all feel about it Here goes: 2k_fear2000 Pts - Lizardmen Army 1 Saurus Oldblood @ 325 Pts General; Light Armour; Quetzl; Tlazcotl; Itzl Scimitar of the Sun Resplendent Enchanted Shield Amulet of Itzl Cold One 18 Saurus Warriors @ 246 Pts Shield; Standard; Musician Champion (general goes in this unit) 1 Saurus Scar-Veteran @ 222 Pts Light Armour; Battle Standard; Quetzl; Tlazcotl Totem of Prophecy 19 Saurus Warriors @ 258 Pts Shield; Standard; Musician Champion (BSB goes in this unit) 10 Skink Skirmishers @ 60 Pts Blowpipe 10 Skink Skirmishers @ 60 Pts Blowpipe 4 Kroxigors @ 232 Pts Great Weapon 4 Kroxigors @ 232 Pts Great Weapon 10 Skink Skirmishers @ 70 Pts Scout; Blowpipe 1 Saurus Scar-Veteran @ 178 Pts Great Weapon; Light Armour; Shield; Sotek; Quetzl Charm of the Jaguar Warrior Aura of Quetzl (for war machine/mage hunting) 1 Skink Priest @ 115 Pts Magic Level 1; Lore of Heaven; Miscast Table Dispel Scroll Dispel Scroll (the ubiquitous scroll caddy ) Casting Pool: 3 Dispel Pool: 3 Models in Army: 79 Total Army Cost: 1998 Basically, the idea is to have a list of almost entirely fear causing units, with lots of combat resolution in the middle and the 2 units of kroxes doing what they should do: support in the flanks. So, let me know what you all think, even if it means you'll be cruel . Cheers!
I love the 2 x 4 krox approach, I've used it a lot of times and it's truly nasty. With these and the blocks and the characters, this look likes a nasty army to be facing off against!
Solid central core that is mostly fear causing is awesome! The Krox and skink support on each side gives you mobile, hard hitting line with poisoned interference that will be able to deal with all but the hardest hitting combinations on an enemy flank with no support. This list looks like something that I would play. The only one weakness that I can see is that this army will run into problems against magic heavy opponents. A skink priest / scroll caddy even at level 2 is like bringing a knife to a gun fight if the opponent carries any decent spell casters. The first turn of the game, you may fare well with the dispell scrolls, but once those are gone you can count on the enemy mage line eating away at your forces, especially on flankers, minimum. Worst case scenario is a high level caster melting a flank or a couple key units. Bottom line, against non-magic heavy opponents with low leadership, count on a very playable and explosive list. Against magic heavy opponents who prefer to sling spell after spell, I think this list will struggle to hit as hard as it's designed to. Hopefully this isn't too cruel.
At 2k, this IS a hard hitting force, but I wonder; can a cold one riden Oldblood join a Saurus Warrior unit?
Orc bosses riding boars can join orc units. I don't see why not. They are restricted to the unit's movement speed instead of the mount's speed though.
Yes. Per the 7th edition rules, a mounted character can join an infantry unit so long as the model is not US5 or above. He cannot be singled out for missiles, either. I've seen this done lots of times with Vampire Counts to get the Lord a better Armor Save from being mounted.
from what i understood... characters can join any unit unless the unit has a specific rule stating you can't IE chameleon skinks
