The list is for the Thone of Skulls (2000pts) being held at warhammer world in the new year. Any crititism is welcome. Lloyd
Like the list, i personally don't take U.P. as a discipline, i prefer Higher state of conciousness or Becalming cogitation. And yes, lore of metal is still classed as flaming attacks i believe.
Becalming cogitation is a musthave. Change UP for that Your lvl2 is pretty useless, I'd drop that and take something, like more chameleons. I'd also drop your scar vet and buff up your unit sizes
i wouldn't say the skink priest is useless, but what i would do is leave him at lvl 1 and take him purely so you can take cube of darkness and cupped hands in the same army list. plus he's useful for channeling the extra power dice and for the slaan to channel his spells through him if required.
I see what you are doing with the priest. I have used that strategy in almost all my games the last 2 months. I take the priest to give me the extra d6 to power dice. He is there to die. If he lives, he can cast a spell or two. That extra d6 will allow you to rule at least one magic phase. I agree with dropping UP and taking becalming cogitation. That discipline is indeed a must have for tournaments. The only thing that I would change is that I would up my chameleons to two units of 5. Keep them close together, so that both cannot be targeted at the same time (shooting and charging). With the exception of templates, this works well. It will also allow you to target two separate war machines if you need to.
but do you really want to pay 130sh points for D6 PDs. With those points you could take 2 units of Chameleons, But if you must keep priest, take CoD or Dispel scroll instead
FB is just there to help in an absolute terrible magic phase that is in a critical moment of the game. I was just trying to see how UP works. I might change it to BC as having played a practice this afternoon in a lunch break (I had a massive lunch break as I had no lectures after lunch!) and realising its only good vs most magic (in which case BC would pretty much stop it in the first place). The reason the SW are at that size and I have a Sv is that 1) its the models i own so less buying and 2) he can take down most characters in a fight, espically that blimming skulltaker!). I will wait till over crimbo when I have games planned against other tourny armies to see how my list goes so far. Also I will drop the SkinkP down to lvl as he did sweet f-a! In my experiance with CoD I have always manged to roll 1-3 in my amazing dice rolls! (My record so far is 12 ones in 16 dice.... Lady luck leaves me for games as she focuses mostly on my social/work/surviving/metabolism life!) And Freeing up those points from the lvl2 to lvl 1 will allow me 2 units of 5 cham skinks which as you said, would help me alot (killing one guantieed war machine was good however lots of them will seriously reduce my unit size!) As I have managed to take leave for thurs and fri I will write up my fluff for my army as I am big into storys and the such like (and it gives you comp points!) And IMO 20 SW in a unit is amble. 5x4 gives you a hefty number of attacks plus not taking upi huge ammounts of board space as I like to deploy in just one side of the board to eliminate half my opponents force till about t3-4, so I can focus on his flank and then push him hard. Although 6x4 is very very very tempting, will just need to but another box set and make some more! On the lore thoughts, metal is now rediculously powerful. I do know the power of light/life but I want to move away from the mainstream of lores and experiment with what else is out there! Plus any Heavy Cav will have disapear in a puff of smoke/melting of armour! (2+ to wound auto is just rather silly to ignore!) This is when I consider taking an empire army sometimes to use lots of lores! And is anyone else annoyed that your SkinkP's can only take heavens? At least there must be a review of this, even a magice item that allows you to take another lore would be fantasic, as it just makes your army so bloody brittle! Also note to self and others, don't leave all your paints and brushes at home when you leave home with models to paint. I can to the basic dipping/washing with an old shitty brush I take with me everywhere (aka my SMP's body) but not do any detail what so blimming ever, so frustration. I will update how my army goes leading up to the tourny as well as my final result (which will probs be the bottom 25% as I play to have an absolue laugh rather than win and being an ex guardsman player enjoy removing swathes of models from the board, mainly my own!) Right end of a massive post, this is what happens when you are so drunk your a walking coma! Night, Lloyd
CoD still dispels the enemy spell in question, its only 4+ to end his magic phase completely. I think Lore of Heavens is underated by many, Thunderbolt is good as is chain lighting, and harmonic convergence is handy as well, granted its far from the strongest lore but its not terrible IMO.
