I playing a game vs some friends this weekend and this wil be my second game. So a bit of help on the army part wouldn't hurt. One of them is playing Tomb Kings and the other either Wood Elves or O&G. This is the list I've come up with: Slaan Mage (BSB) The Focused Rumination The Becalming Cogitation Standard of Discipline Plaque of Tepok Temple Guard (15) FC Razor Standard Scar-Vet (joins TG) Shield, Light armour and Burning Blade of Chotec Saurus Warriors (20) /w Spears FC Saurus Warriors (20) /w Spears FC Skink Skirmishers Blow Pipes (10) Chameleon Skins (6) Chameleon Skins (6) Ancient Stegadon Salamander (2) +2 extra handlers Its 2002 point..
Ok, lets have a look: Slaan Mage (BSB) The Focused Rumination The Becalming Cogitation Standard of Discipline Plaque of Tepok What Lore are you going for? i'd recommend Life in this list. Nice build. Temple Guard (15) FC Razor Standard I'd try and get at least 5 more TG in this unit, numbers are a little low, drop the standard= more TG. Scar-Vet (joins TG) Shield, Light armour and Burning Blade of Chotec Nice, will work well, especially against Tomb King characters who are flammable. Saurus Warriors (20) /w Spears FC Saurus Warriors (20) /w Spears FC Good, but i'd like to see maybe 5 more in each unit, or combine the two into one big unit, i feel 20 would get picked off too easily. Skink Skirmishers Blow Pipes (10) Not sure you need them with chamos in the list, maybe ditch them to accomodate more saurus. Chameleon Skins (6) Chameleon Skins (6) Nothing wrong here Ancient Stegadon Always Nice Salamander (2) +2 extra handlers Also nice To be honest its a good list, but based on the idea your putting the Scar vet in there, you want him in combat which with small numbers of TG puts your slaan at risk. would either add more TG to combat this or put him in with the saurus. Hope this helps Yours Aye Mixer
yeah nice work. what you could do is drop the SSkinks for more TG. if fielded with spears, I think saurus work good in 7x4 formations (28 saurus) use this unit as a the core of your army, let them get changed so they get their extra attack, and use salllies to burn gobbo units and watch the saurus units flanks. buy more TG for the saurus not used. good luck!
So.. after your recomedations I've made the following: Slaan Mage (BSB) The Focused Rumination The Becalming Cogitation Standard of Discipline Plaque of Tepok Temple Guard (21) FC Razor Standard RG has Venom of FFF (perhaps that 55 points can be spend in something better?) Saurus Warriors (28) /w Spears FC Saurus Warriors (20) FC Chameleon Skins (6) Chameleon Skins (6) Ancient Stegadon Salamander (1) + extra handler Salamander (1) + extra handler Its 2001 points.. I've dropped the scarvet so i could increase the size of one saurus block and add some TG. I also removed SS. I wanted to use one big block of Saurus /w Spears in the center and use the other two block on the side (TG and Saurus (20)) Is it a good or bad idea to split up the slamanders?
i find that it gives more flexibility to split them up Also maybe look into just a regular steg instead of the ancient and boost the smaller saurus unit or for more chameleon skinks
Keep your salamanders seperate IMO. as stated it gives you much more flexibility. Drop Razor standard and VFFF. this will allow you to take 5 sextra saurus so you'll have a unit of 28 and a unit of 25. You'll want to protect your TG/Slaan's flanks so i'd deploy TG in the middle flanked on either side by 2 good sized saurus units, this will also allow both unit to be in range of the BSB for most of the battle. plus its quite an intimidating sight for the enemy to see 3 good sized units of pain heading there way. I would always take the ancient over the normal steg, main reason being a normal can't shoot its bow on the move, ancient can fire 4D6 poison shots per turn while heading where you want him. i.e. INTO COMBAT!!!!!!
