OK folks, I've had a go at creating a serious, tournament worthy, 2000 point list. Please tell me what you think, and if you have suggestions (I can think of a fairly obvious one straight off the bat), then also suggest what I should drop to fit it in. Slann Higher State of Consciousness, Focused Rumination, Divine Plaque of Protection, Cupped Hands, Dispel Scroll Saurus Scar-Veteran Battle Standard Bearer, Light Armour, Great Weapon Skink Priest Level 2, Engine of the Gods, Dispel Scroll, Diadem of Power Skink Priest Level 2, Dispel Scroll, Cloak of Feathers 18 Saurus Warriors Spears, Full Command 18 Saurus Warriors Spears, Full Command 16 Skink Cohort 2 Kroxigor, Musician, Standard 10 Skink Skirmishers 10 Skink Skirmishers 1997 points 11 PD 7 DD + Diadem + 3 Scrolls Weirdly this list has only characters and core (unless you count the Engine) but I think it will have a pretty good shot against most things... Comments? Viperion
Re: 2k points, tournament worhty? I liked your list its interesting seeing how you didn't take all the juicy special and rare choices... Anyway just a few nit picks for you, your engine of the gods adds 1 power die and 1 dispel die for your priest which you didn't include. Otherwise i like the list just concerned that your speed are nice squishy units of skinks but who knows that may end up working beautifully. Hope that helped. Good luck!
Re: 2k points, tournament worhty? The theory (hah hah) is that I put the Skinks out in front, and bait a few charges, then counter charge with the Skrox/Saurus/Engine, and mop up afterwards. If the enemy sits back I pepper them with magic and blowpipes for a while Does this have any chance of working? Thanks for the comments! Viperion
Hmm.. Very interesting list, but I'm going to be perfectly honest. The list scares me, and invites me in at the same time. You should try play testing it before you use it in a tournament, but overall...It seems decent. IMHO I see your list as creative, fun, and playable. While a lizardmen list can function without specials or rares I feel like your list is very naked. Your slann is going to be alone, and your army has no way to hit a gun line early (flyers, scouts, etc) and your bsb has no where to go unless you want your formation looking funny. I can't imagine taking a slann to a battle without 16 temple guard, nor could I field my EoTG without Wardrums of Xahutec so it can avoid getting charged most of the time. I think this makes a viable friendly list, but I think a tournament list needs to be more diverse and balanced. Right now I feel like that solid core is going to be taking far too much punishment, far too many panic tests and other special abilities... I like to see a list like this from time, and I've even pondered similar ideas, but only for friendly games. Lizardmen are good, but they can't win on pure racial talent, they need the multiple tools and units, and some good tactics in order to stand toe to toe against the power lists out these days. If the tourny your heading for is heavily comped you might do better then if you did a tourny near me (comp score has little effect on overall score, its on a scale of 1-10 made by your opponent, but we even allow special characters and such so everyone runs hardcore lists and min/max but still get scores of 6-8 for comp). Your own playstyle will effect how well you can use this type of an army also, so I say to you, Good Luck...
