Got a campaign game against Bretts today, and I'm thinking of just trying some things I've never done before.

    Slann Mage Priest
General, BSB, Banner of Eternal Flame
    Mystery (Metal), Rumination, Becalming Cogitation
    Cupped Hands, Ironcurse Icon.

    Ancient Stegadon with EOTG
Skink Priest lvl 2, Cube of Darkness

    17 x TG
    FC, Razor Standard

    30 x Saurus Warriors
    HW/S,

    1 x 2 Salamanders
    2 Extra Handlers

    8 x Chameleon Skinks

    10 x Skink Skirmishers

He will probably run 1-2 Trebuchets, lvl 4 mage, a unit of Pegasus Knights, a horde o f men-at-arms, and multiple units of lance formation Cavalry.

Metal because he almost always will have 2+ Armor Saves and I'm thinking that could devastate some of his units, between Golden Hounds and Searing Doom. The only spell that I feel isn't useful is Glittering Robe.

I'm trying out the EOTG for the first time since I know the only warmachines he can take are Trebuchets, and I feel like Brettonians are as good of a time to start testing new units :D The widest units I'm running are only going to be 5 wide because he runs his lance formation 3 wide all the time. What do you guys think?

I'm not a fan of EOTG in 8th, but that's just me. The list looks very solid. Between metal (Glittering robe on your skinks still works, not great but it's something.), the AOE of armor ignoring doom from the engine, and your sallies you should wipe the floor with him.

One trebuchet shot can kill the entire stegadon crew. The template hits everything on the monster, with the model hit by the higher str hit randomized. I wouldn't recommend it unless you can get that thing into combat right away.

On the other hand it will give him a very juicy target to shoot at instead of your other units. I just wouldn't expect it to survive for long.
