I have 3 lists here that I'm going to try out as soon as possible, and I'd like some opinions (aside from "that new unit sucks". This is part of a new strategy I'm trying to incorporate to deal with armies that I have trouble with (my main opponent plays center-heavy, combat oriented WoC and Ogres with a bit of chaff on the flanks).

I hope this at least gives you some interesting ideas to try.

    Let's get started I guess:

    2399

530 Tehenhauin with EotG and Sharpened Horns

    185 Tetto'Eko

185 Scar-Vet BSB - Cold One, Light Armor, GW - Dragonhelm, Dawn Stone, Trickter's Shard

97 Skink Chief - Ripper, Light Armor, Luck Stone, Charmed Shield, Warrior Bane

    383 Saurus x 33 - Standard, Musician (HW/Sh)

    XX Skink Cohort x 10

    XX Skink Skirmishers x 10

    XX Skink Skirmishers x 10

    XX Skink Skirmishers x 10

    415 Temple Guard x 25 - Standard, Musician - Razor Standard

    XXX Chameleons x 8

    XXX Ripperdactyls x 3

    XXX Ripperdactyls x 3

The strategy would be to overload 1 side of the board, using my large unit of Saurus (5 wide I think) to anchor my only flank, with the Temple Guard likely beside them and my BSB trying to keep within range. The Chief will deploy alone or with the Rippers (assuming FAQ) depending on what is lined up against me. Being able to deploy a couple of chaff units early on the opposite side should help me with overloading the side I want. Between the vanguard I already have and Tetto, I should be able to push one side of the battlefield very quickly. The thought process behind this strategy is that I ALWAYS seem to be able to dominate the outer flanks with skinks alone, and that it would help to create better matchups, which I struggle with against combat armies, which I play a lot of.

I chose to use all Rippers instead of a unit of Teradons because I wanted to take full advantage of Toad Rage. I think, if used right, the Rippers would yield faster results in this style. I took Tehenhauin because that third roll hugely increases my chances of getting amber spear if I need it. He is on the Steg to give him the armor to be used in combat in the right situations. Otherwise, I would take the in Rare, drop EotG, and take Cohorts or something. I had sallies in the list, but decided to drop them as they won't have much time to do their thing before combat, given this speed. Although, I just thought of this now, but I could deploy a Sally somewhat early on the side I want to overwhelm to make my opponent want to deploy his best blocks elsewhere. Interesting idea.

    Second List:

    2395

    185 Tetto-Eko

125 Skink Priest - Level 2 Beasts, Dispel Scroll

256 Old Blood - Shield, Light Armor, GW - Arabyan Carpet, Stegadon Helm, Dragonbane Gem

185 Scar-Vet BSB - Cold One, Light Armor, GW - Dragonhelm, Dawn Stone, Trickter's Shard

    361 Saurus x 31 - Standard, Musicisn (HW/Sh)

    XX Skink Cohort x 10

    XX Skink Skirmishers x 10

    XX Skink Skirmishers x 10

    XX Skink Skirmishers x 10

    429 Temple Guard x 26 - Standard, Musician - Razor Standard

    XXX Chameleons x 8

    XXX Ripperdactyls x 3

    XXX Ripperdactyls x 3

250 Ancient Stegadon - Sharpened Horns

This list has 5 points to play with, as I noticed a mistake while typing it up, but nothing major. This is VERY similar to the first list, with a similar strategy. Although, with this, I would be more likely to try deploying my army in a more 'normal' fashion and trying to get my Old Blood and Rippers behind enemy lines for rear charges. I like sandwiches.

I'd be much more likely to replace a unit of Rippers with Teradons here, the difference being no Chief to benefit from Toad Rage as well. Also, I just want to try Rippers with 2+ units to see how it fairs.

    Slann List:

440 Slann BSB - sould of Stone, Wandering Deliberations, Harmonic - Channelling Staff, Standard of Discipline

125 Skink Priest - Level 2 Heavens - Dispel Scroll

160 Scar-Vet - Cold One, Light Armor, GW - Dragonhelm, Dawnstone, Trickter's Shard

    350 Saurus x 30 - Standard, Musician (HW,Sh)

    XX Skink Cohort x 10

    XX Skink Skirmishers x 10

    XX Skink Skirmishers x 10

    XX Skink Skirmishers x 10

401 Temple Guard x 24 -Standard, Musician - Razor Standard

    XXX Bastiladon - Solar Engine

    XX Salamander

    XX Salamander

    XXX Chameleons x 8

250 Ancient Stegadon - Sharpened Horns

This is what I see as more of a standard list. The same strategy may work, albeit slower. That's why the beautiful Sallies are here, I won't be in combat quite as early. Otherwise, it's just 'business as usual'. The Slann could also take Focus of Mystery if I find 5 points, in which case, the Priest would be changed to Beasts to guarantee Wildform. I'll have to try out both setups. I chose Bastiladon for 2 reasons, he gives TG I3, which can be very useful with the Miasma spell or Hand of God to make them truly elite for a couple rounds at least. His bound spell could also be very useful, which, combined with his 2+ save and no flanks rule, he can anchor a flank against a lot of stuff if need be.

I haven't built very well for facing gunline armies and the like, but I think the speed in the first 2 lists should help with that, but I don't face them often at all, and I am just trying to see how are units work together for now.

I hope to get some interesting feedback and to make you think about different possibilities as well. Cheers!

p.s. My book is not on me, so I forgot some of the new terms, hopefully I used the right names for everything :)

p.p.s Sorry for the heavy reading :/

Re: 3 lists, 2 no slann. It's time to try some new things. (

I know that no one has commented yet, but I thought of some improvements for the last list.

    -7 Saurus
    -1 Temple Guard
downgrade Priest to a level 1 of beasts

    +3 Teradons
change slann to focus of mystery and add ironcurse icon
