For the first one: too many ranked troops, you need at least two units of skink skirmishers (and a dispell scroll, don't count on your 8 dispell dice, one scrolls always comes handy) Again, IMO the slann must always be the standard bearer, and there are too many temple guards (with 11 you make 3 rows of 5, which is ok. Another unit of terradon riders would be great, and fi you're playng ranked troops, you will need at least one unit of saurus warriors. For the second list: You need a scar veteran if you have so many skinks. Again, I think 2 units of skirmishers are always necessary, and, waht you need the priest with the diadem to be level 2 for? You are going to keep those power dice, so, why pay 35 points for that? I never use the brave on the terradons, it's too expensive, and the unit of saurus warriors i prefer them to be of 18 in rows of 6 (24 atackswhen they are equipped with spears...) and WITH SPEARS (believe me, the enemy doubs wheter to charge at your saurus or not). I don't like the chamaleon skinks so i wouldn't use them, but i know they can be really valuable. For the third list: It would be my choice, but I don't like the way you equip your lords and heroes (i prefer them to be mounted on cold one, so i have different tactics ready). The kroxigors I like them on groups of 3 instead of 4, for they are much cheaper, and more easily moved.
third list is my personal choice out of these 3, but the vet should have a halberd, as mounted GW are the same but strike last. also, try changing the razordons to sallies, as they are more useful because of auto panics
I don't think sallies are more useful than razors, they are simply different and, obviously, have different functions. Of course sallies make enemy panic but razors can guard one side without help because of the double stand and shoot S4 (one day i made 48 shoots, though it was with a little luck, i know), and sallies are used like skirmishers and in groups of 1, not 3... For old bloods i personally like this combo: - Old-blood + Light armour + Sword of battle (the one that costs 20 points and give +1 strenght) + Enchanted shield + Glyph necklace + Carnosaur pendant + Cold one = 270 points This is a hero that moves like a cold one (is the nearest i've got to get to our loved nike-saurus with the jaguar charm), S6, armor save of -1+ (against S6 we are saving at 2+) and a ward save of 5+; I have used it and it really can stay in combat (and with a little luck even win) against almost anything, great daemons and dragons (maybe not the star dragon [i think this is the name in english for the mega-dragon of the high elves, the one with S7]). The carnosaur pendant makes our old-blood frenzy, so he is not going to scape a combat because the enemy causes terror and has more unit power than us.
Personally, I would use my own combo- which is kinda like bor only different.... Oldblood-cold one enchanted shield glyph necklace Scimitar of the sun lght armour ussually with a carnosaur but this is the cheaper version, this way, he has a tonne of attacks and a good save, ready to deal out the pain
Ok, I reedited the lists, thanx guys. Strim: Where does it say that the Slann must be the BSB? as for my favorite combo this is close to it: Old-Blood- Light Armor, Enchanted Shield, Horned One, Burning Blade of Chotec, Glyph Necklace- 255 -1+ armor save, 5+ ward, M 8, 5 Str 5 flaming attacks with an additional -2 to the armor save plus an additional Str 4 attack and no stupidity.About as close as we come to the Nike boss w/ movement 8.
It doesen't say, it's just that FOR ME the slann must always be the standard bearer (sorry if i didn't get myself clear, you know, i'm used to write these things in spanish ), for it gives a bonus point in combat if he is in a ranked unit, and has that same bonus if he is alone (and with all the skinks in that first list, a BSB would be a great idea...) The problem with the horned one is that it's too expensive, and if we take it we can't use the bane head (wich is great for a mounted old-blood), the carnosaur pendant, and there are 35 points that we can't use, wheter if we take a normal cold one we can spend those points in other things. I don't like the scimitar for an old blood or a scar veteran, we don't need more attacks but more strengh. However, i find the scimitar quite useful for a skink chief on terradon, for we have 5 attacks wich are going to be used on a war machine for very few points
Ah, but the point is not to attack characters with it, the sheer ration of attacks is for crushing rank and file, which are ussually T3, and therefore the strength bonus wouldn't do much
My favorite for crushing rank and file is Old Blood- Light Armor, Maiming Shield, Scimitar of the Sun, Carnosaur Pendant. 8 str 5 attacks till he wounds something than 9 str5. Just make sure he doesn't get baited out of the unit. Or Just give him the glyph necklace instead of teh pendant.
