The Chief on the Stegadon will be in the middle for Leadership and just a hard-hitting counter charge. The Skink Chief on the Terradon is an old throw-back to the old Cloak of Feathers w/ Staff idea. He and the skirmishers are there to cause some decent shooting damage and possibly funnel units to my harder units and get closer to my EoGs. The Razordons are the each side to protect flanks. C&C is gladly welcomed
You have a pretty powerful list set up there. I have a couple comments that I'll share. 1) You will most likely get some negative comments about running a 3 stegadon list. While it's very powerfull, it will crush some lists easily. The only folks I imagine that you'll hear not complaining about it are the ones that crush you list. Otherwise, I'd consider dropping at least one, if not two for a more balanced list. You will have more points to spend on other great stuff. 2) Consider bringing your spear sarus up to 18 and running them in 3 ranks of 6. That will help maximize the spear attacks. You also will probably not need more than a standard, but consider at least dropping the champion. Thats about all I can think of at the moment. Best of luck in your games! May the Old Ones Bless You.
nice to see a skink with the staff of lost sun, it's a good item but I have not seen it in a lot of lists here
I think it looks solid. I'm not a big fan of leaving home without a unit of Terradons, because they are useful little buggers, and I agree with Barotok, drop the champs. You are paying for a full Saurus to get +1 attack and challenge fodder. I say drop at LEAST one champ and one of the Razordon packs, which frees up 92 points. 3 Terradons cost 90, so I'd say you are trading a bit of firepower for a much greater increase in flexibility. Otherwise looks solid.
You know. I am kind of tired of people getting angry over the fact that I could take 3 or 4 engines in my list. People need to realize its a character mount, period. I dont get mad when I see someone bringing 4 Juggernauts in a list surrounded by Chaos knights. People just need to learn to bring them down. You know when the new rat book comes out. I think we as lizards will need all the help we can get. So in tourneys I always argue this fact, and everytime so far. They have agreed with me. What is really nasty is empires ability to bring a steam-tank, a cannon, a missile battery, and a volley gun. Along with with all or their handgunners.Or the Daemons ability to bring ultra magic dice. So why is that not nasty? People are just ticked off that they don't get cool mounts like us lizards do. I mean come on a steggy with giant blow pipes, a steggy with a magic throne on it, a steggy with a giant bolt thrower, and a dragon killin carnasaur. We rock!!!
People are upset because it is a high utility unit that is tough to get rid of. You can remind them that all it takes is killing a 2 wound T2 Skink on top, or that it costs as much as a Slann, but they will just kind of shrug their shoulders. Every army has unique, powerful units, and not having access to something similar will always be a point of contention. Cannons are a good example. I play Empire, I know the power of cannons, and man do I sweat every time I write up a Lizard list and put down an EotG - in my mind I measure it as 4 cannons and change. Is it really that effective? I find myself asking that alot, but it is all about synergy. Really and truly, Skaven have no right to complain. They are a 40k army with block troops. Snipers? Chain Guns? Flamethrowers? Laser cannons? Please, I've seen Space Marine armies with less firepower. Not to mention they are a Horde army with high base movement and two AMAZING Ld rules to help bolster them, the kind of things Empire troops would kill for (Lead from the back? Bonuses to Ld for more troops? Yes, please). Even still, the Rats are beatable (though the cheese is strong with them). My opinion is that Demons are the only army that are just completely 100% bonkers, but that isn't a unique viewpoint amongst most FB players. All in all though, the EotG is good. It is a costly beast that is far from invulnerable, but it is good and it is unique to the Lizards. Therefore, people will complain. All we can do is listen intently, consider their position with respect and humility, and then stab with with poisoned spears and crush their armies with the might of the Old Ones.
other reasons why people call engines cheesy, is because they have the ability to cast special spells for which they don't have to roll for, can't roll miscasts or dispel against it, and on top of that, boost the priests power. also, the 40k skaven army is only clan skryre, that base on may experience against them, thier players say they are generally difficult to field, and only with an experienced player can they bring out their full potential. camo-skink
LOL...Who needs sportsmanship when you can win so much easier by bringing a cheesy list? Lizardmen don't need all the help we can get. Lizardmen are really good. You don't need 4 toughness 6 3+ armor save terror causers that are stubborn and do magic aoe blasts that can't be dispelled as they are n0t bound spell. Just no, man.
Erm.... Barotok, that guy isn't the OP... he didn't "ask for comments" he's just giving his view about EoTG spam.
you know i kinda agree with the whole idea of armies being cheesy i just look at them and think wow that is a really tough list and then i play them if i lose, i lose but if i win then i really feel like i accomplished something i personally think comp scores are pretty lame sorry for all of you who like playing with them but it just seems to take away from the game when you limit players on what they can play with now i know what some of you are going to think when i am writing this post but please keep in mind that one of my main armies is ogres and i probally play them as much as i do lizzies and you don't ever hear people call them cheesy but i have had some great battles with them i just had to use creative builds and tactics i do the same thing with lizzies and hope and expect others to do the same with their armies
as far as your list goes i would recomend either making both priests lvl. 2 or lvl. 1 the way you equiped them leads me to think they are defensive in which case lvl. 1 on both if you do drop down to lvl. 1 i would drop the champ on a unit of saurus and make them 3x6 or an alternative build is to make the chief on the terradon a priest with the cloak and go magic heavy you would have to drop a unit of skinks to do it but would give you that extra punch in the magic phase and with that build you could drop the diadem and add the staff to the priest granted his bs is much worse i would also take salamanders over razordons or make the razordons into one unit
