I am going to paint a 3000 pt. Lizardman army. I want to focus on one list to get painted up over the next 30 days or so. I own a ton of Lizardmen, but I want to focus my painting efforts just on this list.

Look at the list and also the other models I have available. Help me come up with the list I should paint.

    My list:
Slann Mage-Priest @ 390 pts Lore of Light (General; BSB; Exorcism) (Diadem of Power, Bane Head, Focus of Mystery, The Focused Rumination
20 Temple Guard @ 400 pts - FC, Razor Standard

Skink Priest @ 115 pts (Dispell Scroll, Cloak of Feathers)

    24 Saurus Warriors @ 305 pts – FC
    1 Scar-Veteran @ 104 pts GW, Shld, LA, 1 Potion of Speed

    24 Saurus Warriors @ 305 pts - FC
    1 Scar-Veteran @ 104 pts GW, Shld, LA, 1 Potion of Foolhardiness

    10 Skink Skirmishers @ 70 pts (BP)
    10 Skink Skirmishers @ 70 pts (BP)
    10 Skink Skirmishers @ 70 pts (BP)

    16 Skinks, 2 Krox @ 204 pts (FC, Jav)
    16 Skinks, 2 Krox @ 204 pts (FC, Jav)

    8 Chameleon Skinks @ 96 pts
    8 Chameleon Skinks @ 96 pts

    1 Stegadon @ 235 pts
    1 Ancient Stegadon @ 275 pts

I am using Light to buff my units and compensate for their weaknesses. I will try to snipe enemy charactures with magic missle spells, with Bane Head doing double wounds. The list has a little speed, a little shooting, good magic, and excellent hammer and anvil units.

Here are the remaining models in my collection. Choose substitutions from here.
2 Kroxigors, 4 Terradons, 20 Temple Guard, 40 Saurus on sprue, 55 Saurus w/spears, 18 Cold One Cav, 10 Skink Skirmishers, 1 Stegadons (EOTG), 2 Scar Vets on CoC, Chakax, Gor-Rok, Krog-Gar, 1 Skink Priests, 2 Skink Chiefs, 3 Razordons w/ 12 handlers, 4 cameleon skinks

PLEASE DO NOT TELL ME TO BUY SALAMANDERS. I understand their worth, but don't want to buy anything right now.

Personally, I'd take away one unit or even two of the CoC, including their scar-vet. Instead, I'd have a scar-vet on foot, and add some chameleon skinks in.

The Slann+TG and saurus blocks are good sizes imo. I still prefer spears, but that is really a personal choice.

Take your 2 units of 15 skirmishers and make it 3 units of 10 skirmishers, and remove the brave(not worth it at all). 3 units can do the same thing as 2, and are much more flexible/

The skrox units are a bit much, I would probably change them to 17/2 units. And maybe add a third unit at 17/2 if you don't have another use for the poiints.

The CoC imo just don't work very well any more, and a unit of 6(with the scar vet) cant even break ranks of the opponent so will just get stuck in combat and die against steadfast, or are really only useful in combination as a flanker. But you already have your flankers with the skrox units, so I would get rid of the CoC unless you really like them. if not put the Scar-vets in the saurus blocks and deck them out a bit more. I would personally prefer 2 stegadons(regular and ancient that you have) to the 2 units of CoC.

Your biggest weakness i see will be against gun lines. Definitely add some chameleon skink units, 2 units of 8 is what I typically run with. They are just invaluable against war machines. Also a unit of 4 terradons would be good to.

I know you said don't tell you to buy salamanders, but depending on where and with whom you are playing I would proxy the razordons as salamanders. I do the same because the razordon model is so great looking, but weak on the table imo.

I would also add a priest with a cloak and a dispel scroll. In case your Slann fails to cast or dispell, you wont waste power dice. And you will still have a decent bonus to dispel if the Slann fails. The cloak is so you can keep him out of trouble, and a dispel scroll is handy when the your opponent rolls 12 PD and you only get 6.

In the end pick what you like, cause your the one painting and playing it :)
