Hi guys, Below is my 3000 point army list against Empire. I've seen the guy play a few times and have tried to tailor my army around that. At 3000 point he is bound to bring Franz on his pony! Lords Saurus Oldblood - Cold One, Potion of Speed, Light Armour, Dawnstone, Scimitar of the Sun (+1 armour save, extra 2 attacks, re-roll failed armour saves) Tehenhauin Heroes Tetto'eko Saurus Scar Vet - Enchanted Shield, light armour, luckstone, Burning Blade of Chotec Skink Priest - Feedback Scroll Core Saurus Warriors x 40 - Champ, Musician, SB, Spears Skink Skirmishers x 10 - Javelin & Shield - x3 units Special Chameleon Skinks x 5 - Stalker - 2x units Stegadon Terradon x 3 - 2x units Rare Ancient Steg Ancient Steg Razordon Razordon Going to be aiming to keep a skirmish group near the wizards, run up the centre with the Saurus unit (accompanied by scar vet), flanked by one of the ancient stegs on one side and normal steg on the other. One flank will be covered by terradons, ancient steg and razordon while the other flank has 2 skink units, razordon and Oldblood...... Thanks for reading
Going against Empire, the list appears poorly tailored to face the hordes of 1+ cavalry you are likely to face (core knights, reiknights & chicken knights) as well as possible multiple stanks. Here are a few suggestions: 1) OB - he will be dead on turn 1 or 2 at the latest from cannon poisoning. Since he is mounted, he won't get a look out sir and thus the first shot of the game will finish him. You could bring a unit of ~7 cold ones in lieu of the baby steg to give him something to avoid this. Offensively, give him either the obsidian blade or RB of Tzunki to burn through armour like butter. 2) Heroes - definitely need a BSB so the SV should become one. I would also take either cube of darkness or a scroll rather than the feedback scroll. 3) Core - Personally, I would go with skrox to handle the knight problem and avoid stomping chicken knights but what you have will work fine. 4) Special - looks good except for early recommendation to drop baby steg for CoKs. If you need to free up points, you could drop a terradon or two and consolidate into one larger unit. 5) Rare - sallies are far better against virtually everything than razordons, even more so verus empire. If you do end up facing Karl Franz, keep him far away from your characters or big monsters as his weapon does d3 autowounds with no armour save on every hit.
Army now looks like...... Core SW x 40, FCG, Spears Skirmishers x 10, Jav & Shield (x 3 units) Lords Saurus Oldblood, Dawnstone, Shield of Mirrored Pool, Light Armour, Sword of Swift Slaying (Accompanying SW unit at start) Saurus Oldblood, Cold One, Sword of Bloodshed, Light Armour, Ironcurse Icon (accompanying CoC to start) Heroes Tetto'eko Skink Priest, Dispel Scroll, Mask of EEE, extra level Rare Ancient Steg Ancient Steg Razordon Salamander Special Cold One Cav x 10, FCG, Wailing Banner Cham Skinks x 5 Terradon x 5
Ended up playing against beastmen as the opponent didn't show. Lost due to Comet of Cass taking out my ancient steg!! Rolled for hit quantity and got 9 hits on my steg but only bloody 5 on his 40 strong horde!!
