Hello everyone, I've played ten or so matches by now and we decided to make things a bit more interesting. Since I am the only one with models to make it to 3000, I am the defender. We go by 8th edition rules and for this scenario it is: * The defender deploys in the middle of the board and the attackers surround. * The defender gets unbreakable for being within 6" of the middle (but -2 leadership if outside the deployment zone). * The attackers can resupply their lost core units as reinforcements * No war-machines for the attackers * Defender has no min/max point for different units (ex. no minimum 750 core) * If the defender looses a panic-test the unit is removed I am Lizardmen, of course, and my attackers have: Scaven with HPA, doomwheel, rat ogres, 2 clanrats and way too many slaves. Changes his leader every time. Orcs and Goblins: Mostly Night Gobilns, has Skarsnik and night goblin horde, the giant spider, snotling pump wagon and then he changes to whatever fits. Vampire: has some leader named Conrad and grave guards who just eat through all my units. He uses some leader powers giving him 10WS and then making me re-roll wardsaves, he heals back all his units so he has more than what he started with (all the cheese stuff he can find). I do have some restrictions because I don't have every model, but here's what I thought: -------------------------------------Lords----------------- Slann Mage-Priest (General) Becalming Cogitation (One enemy wizard discards power dice that roll 6s) Dispel Scroll Lore of Light (To negate all the magic with, and buffes with small lvl spells. He'll stand hidden and alone) ----------- 300p Slann Mage Priest The Focused Rumination (add one die to each spell) Cupped hands of the old ones Battle standard bearer Lore of life (Spellcaster and healer, much needed I think. He'll be with a unit of TG) ----------------- 345p -------------------------------------Heroes----------------- Skink Priest Lvl 2 (is that necessary?) Cube of darkness (would be nice to end their magic phase ) Ancient Stegadon ------ 430p ------------------------------------Special--------------- Temple Guards 20 Full command (I don't have any more of those) Magical Banner, Sun Standard of Chotec Burning Blade of Chotec -------- 415p ------------------------------------Rare--------------- Salamander hunting pack 2 Salamander and extra handler -------- 160p Salamander hunting pack 2 Salamander and extra handler -------- 160p (Panic rolls on the nasty goblins and scaven, hopefully they'll scare some of them away) -----------------------------------Core--------------- Skinks 26, Full Command 3 Kroxigor ------ 317p Skinks 22, Full Command 2 Kroxigor ------ 323p Saurus Warriors 34, Full Command, Spears (or should I split these into 16/18?) ------- 438p -------------------------------------------- ~2888p so there's about 100p left. I could take away a Slann and add an oldblood instead, giving me: Saurus Oldblood Blade of Realities Carnosaur (Very good against Scaven and Night goblins I would believe!) (430p) Or maybe take away the extra unit skinks and add: Cold One Cavalry 7, War Banner, Full Command (320p) ---------------or----------- Kroxigor 5, champion (350p) I realise this is like 1/3 characters, 1/3 Core units, 1/3 special & rare and that may not be a great idea? Any help is useful here!!
if help is what you want, then help you shall have! no matter if you go for 1 or 2 slanns, I´d give at least 1 of them "the focused rumination" this way you wont have to use as many dice for each of your wizards. If you go with 1 slann and 1 priest, i´d also give your slann "focus of mystery". if not, then give your priest "plaque of tepok", allowing him to cast 2 spells, rather then 1. I´d go for lore of life for your slann, getting of a few "dvellers below" can really hourt those big units. this could be the lords and heroes: LORDS- 350pts slann (life) BSB 2 diciplines (mystery, rumination) army general *magic items* HEROES skink priest plaque of tepok *cube of darkness* ancient stegadon ***************************** this might be an idea.
for this scenario would you not want too get lots of core and surround the slann(s) and other guys with them? just an idea?
I´d drop those skinks and go for a basic line of saurus and some TG with slann. 25-30 saurus per block would do it i think. for the TG standard I´d go with "totem of prophecy" since those tiny bastards have a not to high ld, some more panic-tests would be nice (totom of prophecy= the unit cause fear)
for this scenario would it not be wise to go with 4 or even 5 blocks of saurus or maybe 3 large unit of saurus, probs no point in the skinks in this situation especially in a mixed krox unit, may aswell get a large unit of krox and run them in a horde formation for the extra attacks and stomp should run riot through the skaven
Thank you all for your tips! I don't have that many models, otherwise I would go for the many saurus blocks... I have two blocks of saurus (21, 25) or three with 15 in each and I think that two are better. The skinks haven't let me down so far so they'll stand. I tried the two Slann together in a game and they complete each other good. focused rumination and focus of mystery on the lore of life, the becalming on the BSB so he dispells and buffs with lore of light I realised the mask of ee is cheaper and only half the points, so the bsb has a war banner and the TG hero has a mask of ee. Don't know what banner to take on the TG though....
