8th Ed. 3000pts Friendly/Semi-Competative Army

    Hey fellow Lustrians!!! Though I'd post my army list here for some expert C&C, its based on the models I like the look of... Hence the inclusion of the carnosaur and CoC. Hopefully it isnt too bad.


    Lords - 735pts
    Slann – pts
    - Focused Rumination
    - Focus of Mystery
    - Lore of Light

    Slann will sit in the unit of Temple Guard. Using lore of light he will buff the WS/I of the Cold One Cavalry, as well as the Stegadon and Saurus when necessary.

    Saurus Oldblood - pts
    - Carnosaur
    - Golden Sigil Sword
    - Armour of Fortune

    Solo hammer. This bad boy will hurtle towards the enemy, hunting characters where ever they are hiding. Plan being, the unit of Cold One Cavalry will support him by attacking the same unit in the flank. Although the CoC are no longer as effective as they used to be, I think it could still be a good combination.


    Heroes - 559pts

    Skink Priest – pts
    - Level 2 Wizard
    - Diadem of Power

    Mainly there just to add some more dice to the pool. Also, being a level 2 he is nothing to be ignored, and could cause a fair amount of damage if left to his own devices. I'm unsure if he is allowed to join the units of skirmishers because of their skirmish rule, or the saurus because of the difference in base size.

    Skink Chief – pts
    - Terradon
    - Dagger of Sotek
    - Bane Head

    My suicidal mage hunter. Pure and simple. Dagger gives him killing blow, and bane head grants him x2 wounds on a chosen character. If he does manage to get into combat and survive, i'll send him to annoy warmachines.

    Scar-Veteran – pts
    - BSB
    - Armour of Destiny
    - Shield

    This guy is just going to sit in a unit of saurus warriors. Basic BSB with the armour of destiny and a shield for added protection.

    Scar-Veteran – pts
    - Cold One
    - Light Armour
    - Enchanted Shield
    - Dawn Stone
    - Great Weapon

    He will join the unit of CoC, and aid the flank-assault with the carnosaur. Not the best use of points in the army, but I think it could still be fun to watch. Also, he should be fairly survivable and hopefully tough enough to create some carnage.

    Core - 776pts
    24 Saurus Warriors
    - Spears
    - Full Command

    These guys will bunker the BSB, and will advance flanked by a salamander.

    These guys will bunker the skink priest, if allowed, and will be flanked by a salamander.

    10 Skink Skirmishers

    10 Skink Skirmishers

    Skirmishers are there to pester warmachines. Should have gone for chameleons, but not a massive fan of the models, and needed the points to meet core minimum.

    Special - 780pts
    20 Temple Guard
    - Full Command
    - Banner of the Eternal Flame

    These guys will bunker the slann priest. Hopefully there is enough of them to survive a game. The Banner of Eternal Flame will hopefully deter Hell Pit Abominations and Hydras etc from charging the unit.

    5 Cold One Cavalry

    As mentioned above, these guys (joined by Scar-vet on cold one) will attack the flanks of units attacked by the Carnosaur, or Stegadon. I didn't add command as I didnt want to waste too many points on a 'crappy' unit, but still want to use them for fluff reasons. Bolstered by the slanns lore of life, they should be pretty effective if they get 10WS/10I.

    Stegadon

    The steg will take a flank and make his way across the table a unit at a time. Although he wont be invincible, he should earn his points back and give the enemy something to think about. And like the cold ones, he will be supported by slann magic.

    Rare - 150pts
    Salamander

    Salamander

    Burning fire of doom x 2. These guys will sit either side of my temple guard, and just walk straight towards the enemy, alongside a flank of the saurus warriors.

    Total Points - 3000

    Sorry to be negative but, lords add up to 730 not 735, heroes add up to 569 not 559, core is 772 not 776, special is 775 not 780 and rare is fine. which means you're core isn't legal so i have changed it in the list below.

    the new list i would take would be,
    Theres the updated legal 3000 point list :)

    Thanks mate, I must have forgot to change unit points when I was adding/taking away upgrades and magic items.

    So how good would you say the list is now? :)

    What would units would you drop?

    I love the list! :D Ran a similar carno/slann list my latest 3.5k game. It didn't go well but it was fun! Just be careful with the carno, he's very fragile :(. I'd probably drop the skink on terradon, in my experience terradons are overrated... Losing combat against trebuchet crew last time and running away really made me angry. Love the idea with CoC. Everytime i write a list i try to justify putting some CoC in but i never have the points :(.

    I'd probably drop down the skink priest in points as well, consider taking some anti magic items too. You wont always have dices over to use the diadem, the Cube of Darkness has saved me plenty of times and if you lack points, get a dispell scroll :).

    Another thing i noticed my last big game was that 20TGs dies pretty fast in big games, be careful with your slann. Keep him secret, keep him safe.

    Right first of all it would help to know what army you’re up against. Then your slann needs some magic items right? Give him Cupped hands of the Old Ones. The sigil sword depends on who you’re going to be playing cause if you’re playing HE it wont help, maybe a better choice would be Burning Blade of chotec. the armour of fortune is really the only good magic armour so that’s fine. Diadem is good :) Personnaly i would drop the skink chief unless you can find the points for a couple of terradons he is really not worth the points on his own. The Bsb is good. The other scar veteran has a 5+ scaly skin and light armour gives him a four up then a 2 up from cold one so you don’t need the enchanted shield because you cant get better than a 1+ save, take a common shield instead. I would actually take out the steggy as he will be shot down too fast. Then i would take a couple of unit’s of chameleons. Then add a couple of extra COC to make the unit into 7 + the scar vet and make the second unit of saurus up too 25 and make it 5x5. Then add anything else you want to add :)

    WTF?! u cant have 1300pts on lords and heroes on a 3k list!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Join the 8th edition. He can spend 1/4 of his points on lords and 1/4 of his points on heroes if he wants to. And yes, that is 750p each so yes WTF!??!?!!?!? He can spend 1300 on lords and heroes in a 3k list!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Cool list sounds fun. I'd love to hear if the Chief got any notches on that dagger.

    Also as much as I want to armour up a SV BSB I don't believe he can take any magic items.

    As long as he doesn't have a magic banner he can have the usual amount of magic items (page 93, bottom) :).

    sry dude! taught it was 25% on lords and heroes.
