This is my first 3000 pts list and it includes some experimental stuff. I made this list for my local club as an allcomers list. Some players in my meta play very competetive lists while others just fool around but since I don't like losing I want a list, that can compete with the serious players Lords 711 Slann with Wandering Deliberations BSB, Skavenpeltbanner, Scroll Oldblood on CO Armor of Destiny, Dawnstone, other Trickster's shard, GW Heroes 207 Priest, lvl 1 Skink Chief, javelin, l. armor, shield, Quango egg Skink Chief, javelin, l. armor, shield, potion of strength (stole these from GCPD coz I really liked the idea, all kudos to him ) Core 750 38 Saurus, FC 13 Skink, Kroxigor 12 Skink, Kroxigor 11 Skirmishers Special 868 30 TG, FC Razor Standart, Sword of first strike 6 Chamos 3 Rippers Bastiladon, Beam of Chotec Rare 460 Ancient Steg, sharpened horns, engine of the gods 2 Sallies, 1 additional Handler 3000 on the nose Thoughts: Slann + TG I want to try out the Skavenpelt/Razor Deathstar. I think this unit can really bring the pain in cc. To make em durable I took 30. I also think that WD gives me lots of spells to buff this unit further. Also I absolutely DON't want my Slann to blow up... WD should help avoiding this due to low casting values. The Bastiladon should help with the Deathstar and burning powerdice. I 3 on the TG can make a huge difference especially when combined with Shadow sig spell. I'll deploy it right next them. On the other flank of the TG goes the ancient Steg. It will further help with it's 6++ and is a superb flanker. Maschine can also burn more PD The Oldblood should be near unkillable and can deal with most everything my opponant has in store (inkluding DP of Nurgle). I'll probably deploy him with or near the Saurus The 2 Chiefs go with the Skink-Cohorts. These are 2 multi purpose units: they are great in clearing out chaff, can be a good supporting unit with a flank charge and with the nasty surprise Chiefs they should even be able to take out a chariot or character. I like em and really want to try em! The Priest is not carrying a scroll so his only purpose is Arcane Vassal action. I probably could drop him if you have better ideas for those points. What do you think? C&C is very welcome!
Re: 3000pts, TG Deathstar, semi-competetive Soul of Stone is something to help prevent you from blowing your TG up. Otherwise, I quite like the list actually. The effectiveness of your TG unit with frenzy is to be seen, but the list itself is solid. I do want to see that unit in combat though...so much awesomeness! If you can find the time, please post a battle report of your next battle. So we can all see how well/bad the TG-deathstar performs. The Hunted
Re: 3000pts, TG Deathstar, semi-competetive I could drop the Engine, additonal Handler and 1 javelin or armor of the chiefs and take Soul of Stone + Cube of darkness for the priest. How about that?
Re: 3000pts, TG Deathstar, semi-competetive If you want to drop things to pay for Soul of Stone, I suggest you start with the Sword of Swift Slaying on the TG unit champion. I don't see that as doing much unless you are facing Vampire Counts (and if you are you really need something stronger than a unit champion packing magical attacks).
Re: 3000pts, TG Deathstar, semi-competetive I don't agree that it won't do much: The champ will attack with 4 attacks ASF at I3 + PF. With Melkoths Miasma possibly hitting on 3s and possibly rerolling to hit. With Wyssans possibly at str 5. He has a 3+ AS, possibly 5+ regen, possibly only be hit on 5s. I know thats a lot of "possiblies" but even 1 single spell kan make a huge difference. And even if I don't get any spells of hes still doing 4 S4 attacks with a 3+ AS to defend.
Re: 3000pts, TG Deathstar, semi-competetive Going to run this List against VC and maybe OK at the weekend. Any further comments?
Re: 3000pts, TG Deathstar, semi-competetive Short Review! Today I played VCs and tabled my opponant =) We played a normal battleline with 2 mysterious woods, an arcane monument, a blood tower and some more terrain (none of it had an important impcat of the game). He usually plays a blender Lord in a unit of Bloodknights and suicides them all to often.. This time he decided to go heavy on magic with a lvl 4 necro. He got at least 10 PD in nearly every magic phase, ouch! After dancing around for 4 turns our two main blocks finally met in the decicive fight. None of the units had any support since everything else was alrdy engaged in cc or dead. His unit of graveguard (? the elite skelletons) with heavy Armor and GWs inkluding a Vampire Lord (nearly no equipment and not the usual blender Lord) and his BSB (Banner of the Graveguard) vs my TG with Slann. I was pretty worried about this fight but couldn't avoid it anymore. I blew up halv my unit in a misscast (-.-) and knew I needed some heavy magic support to win this. Fortunately I got of all 4 buffs/hexes, while he got of some magic item giving him extra attacks. Outcome was his Vampires wiffed, hitting on 5s, wounding on 4s with me saving on 6+ and 5+ regen. My champion killed his champion 4 times in the challange and my TG absolutely demolished his graveguard with sth like 11 kills, making the rest of the unit and his Characters crumble in the outcome. Also my chief with the Egg and his unit of 13 skirmishers and the Krox killed his Mortis Engine while the Egg wiffed completly ^^ I'll drop the engine from the List and probably take Sould of Stone or some Obsidian because I want to protect my TG a little better. Also the Engine didn't do very much, so a normal ancient can do the trick. I'm very pleased with the rest of the army so far and will play it again next wednesday against yet unknown opponants.
