hi all, just need some help as I´m facing my friends empire army this sunday. he will probably have loads and loads of cannons and mortars. the thing is that i have no idea of how i can avoid my units to get completely messed up due to those cannonballs. maybe keep all characters close but not inside the units or whatever will make it harder for him to shose target...

I have 30 saurus with HW and 30 with spears. also what should i give my slann?

thats a tricky conundrum you have there. if hes running tons of cannons and mortars, the first thing people will say is "chameleons, run chameleons!". not a bad idea, ill rebuddle with this however: run lore of heavens :). chameleons can be shot, comets can not.

in order to do it succesfully, you really need 2 slann and tetto, preferably an EotG as well. the goal is simple, get as many comets as physically possible (in this case 4) and proceed to pray to the dice gods. slann builds would be fairly similar, such as slann+power+know. thats 325 pts a piece. add the bsb and 2+ ward shield to one and dispel and ironcurse to the other. stick the ironcurse slann in a big block-o-60 saurus and the 2+ ward slann in a 10-20 man unit of skink skirmishers. the ironcurse slann will keep your saurus alive slightly better (6+ ward is better than nothing) and the skink skirmishers will give the slann a 2+ look-out for cheap and make him harder to target with normal shooting.

you COULD change the ironcurse slann to light to take advantage of a pha's protection blanket but thats up to you. i'd rather have 3 guarenteed comets with a strong possibility for a 4th on the EotG with plaque. just my opinions though, take them for what they're worth.

p.s. that would leave you with 500+ points for "other" choices *cough*sallies*cough*

The ironcurse item is a common magic item in the BRB. It's a talisman that gives a 6+ save versus war machines.

Several lore of heavens slann bringing down cosmic fire on his weapons crew would make for a very entertaining game, but there's no reason not to throw some small teams of chameleons in there too! They are very useful outside of weapons destruction as march-blockers and annoyances. If they happen to get smacked by a meteor by accident, so be it!

Your main concern with a meteor strategy would be that he would likely get one or two turns of shooting before those things came down and if his artillery line is as big as you suggest, that could cause some serious hurt.

your other option would be to play fast, COC, Kroxigors etc and get your units in combat a.s.a.p and buff them with lore of life, regen and +4 toughness is pretty effective....
