So this is the list I am planning on playing in a competetive uncomp'ed setting. I do have some leeway with models, I could bring more chameleons terradons, priests, saurus, and a couple other things. It relies upon the dual slann to have an overwhelming magic during both sides of the magic phase. Ideally use the Enfeebling + Dwellers and Withering + salamanders to soften enemy blocks up before they reach my lines. I took out some chameleons skinks because at 3k points, there normally isnt a lot of room to deploy them, so they got replaced by a unit of normal skirmishers. Besides that, i expect I will have trouble with warriors of chaos if I run into them, their good armor saves and high statistics will negate a lot of my tricks like dwellers and pit. What would you guys change? + Lords + * Shadow -General - Slann Mage-Priest Dispel Scroll, The Focused Rumination * Life BSB - Slann Mage-Priest Battle Standard Bearer, 2x Extra Disciplines, Focus of Mystery, Forbidden Rod, Ironcurse Icon, The Becalming Cogitation, The Focused Rumination + Heroes + * Saurus Scar Veteran Amulet of Itzi, Cold One, Dragon Helm, Great Weapon, Hand Weapon, Light Armour, Venom of the Firefly Frog * Saurus Scar Veteran Burning Blade of Chotec, Charmed Shield, Cold One, Dawnstone, Hand Weapon, Light Armour + Core + * Saurus Warriors Champion, Musician, 36x Saurus Warrior, Standard Bearer * Skink Skirmishers 10x Skink Skirmisher * Skink Skirmishers 10x Skink Skirmisher * Skink Skirmishers 10x Skink Skirmisher * Skinks 3x Kroxigor, Musician, 35x Skink, Skink Brave, Standard Bearer + Special + * Chameleon Skinks 7x Chameleon * Temple Guard Musician, Standard Bearer, Revered Guardian, 26x Temple Guard Banner of Eternal Flame * Terradon Riders 3x Terradon Rider + Rare + * Salamander Hunting Pack 2x Salamander * Salamander Hunting Pack 2x Salamander
Not a lot, it looks prety solid.... hmmm if you have a few points left... you gould give your TG champ a magic item. or maybe get a few points by droping the skink champ.
Why the Shadow Slann General? I'm assuming the Life Slann goes in the TG unit, Shadow is on his own. I would make my Life Slann the General (and keep him as BSB). With no miscast protection on the Shadow Slann, it's too easy to lose him to a fluke. Also, your Shadow Slann should be more mobile, right? But your Life Slann/TG is likely to sit right in the center of your line. With a Shadow Slann General, you have to weigh the benefits of moving him to the best position for his spells, vs. keeping him where the Inspiring Presence bubble will cover more of your army. No such conundrum with the Life Slann General.
First off, thanks for the responses guys. The reason I am making the shadow slann the general is so that I am able to spread out more and cover more of the battlefield in leadership bubbles. I have tried having my life slann be my general, my bsb, part of my hard hitting temple guard, and still point him in the right direction for becalming and casting, but it is too much. I ended up having units run off the board because they arent within 12 of him, and having no way of getting him there because he had so many jobs to do. This way I have the mobile solo slann who can cover the other half of the battlefield and still wither / enfeeble / pit from a good distance away. @N810 - I considered this too, but couldnt think of an item i wanted on the TG champ since the slann already has the ironcurse icon.
