Here is a 3000 point list I like to play. The basic concept is to move bop characters around using the smoke and mirrors ability. The stegadon is there to die. The main purpose of it is to draw fire away from everything else. Lets here what anyone has to say about it. SLANN MAGE-PRIEST Lore:SHADOW 1st Discipline Focus of Mystery 2nd Discipline The Focused Rumination 3rd Discipline The Becalming Cogitation 4th Discipline Higher State of Consciousness Divine Plaque of Protection, Cupped Hands of the Old Ones, Obsidian Trinket SAURUS OLDBLOOD Blade of Realities, Charmed Shield, Dragonbane Gem SAURUS SCAR-VETERAN BATTLE STANDARD BEARER, SHIELD Armour of Destiny SAURUS SCAR-VETERAN LIGHT ARMOUR and SHIELD Burning Blade of Chotec, Glyph Necklace SKINK PRIEST Dispel Scroll, Cloak of Feathers SAURUS WARRIORS 30 w/ full command SAURUS WARRIORS 30 w/ full command SAURUS WARRIORS 30 w/ Standard & musician SKINK SKIRMISHERS 10 STEGADON SALAMANDER HUNTING PACK 3 SALAMANDER HUNTING PACK 3
Looks good to me, though I would rather use the 235 points from the Stegadon on Chameleon units. I like how you've kept your Saurus characters at low strength and high defense to complement Lore of Shadow. The Blade of Realities is an intersting choice aswell, since the Ld test are re-rollable with a BSB around now. In the right situation though .. The Obsidian Trinket seems redundant with the Divine Plaque of Protection, or am I missing something? The 6 Sallies might be a little hit or miss in my opinion. They're gonna be harder to manouvre in those unit sizes, and 3 strong units immediatly become priority targets for enemy characters and monsters. If you actually get the Withering off combined with 6 Salamander shots you're gonna kill the unit you hit about 40 times over anyway.
Thanks for the reply. The trinket is for spells that aren't magic missiles. Nice to have a 3+ against the direct damage spells. The sallies are hit and miss. But I have had some good success with them in the past. Not a huge fan of the stegadon myself. But it is a missile attractor, and I don't have the chams to fill that many points. As well, in tournaments, time is usually a little bit of an issue, so I try to keep my unit count down to a manageable level. The blade of realities isn't good against about 40% of the the armies, but I like it against a lot of the top tier armies. Auto killing a screaming bell is just so much fun. Thanks again.
I thought that direct damage spells classified as ranged attacks. The rulebook and the FAQ seems a little vague on the point.
