Playing a local tourney at the end of the month and theyre tweak is to required 40% core. I think this is a boost to lizardman so I'm excited but it does remove the option of Slann in TG bunker. My core is 2 blocks of 24 saurus, 1 block of 30 skinks 3 krox. 1) Has anyone ran a slann in a saurus block before and how did it work out. With 3 command and a ASF Scarvet in the front rank so Slann gets shuntted to second rank. 2) Put him with 10 skirmishing skinks (80 points) 3) Ethereal (50 points) Rest of the list is 2 Salamanders, 12 chamo skinks, 3 terradons or 10 skirm skinks Thoughts?
I always play without TGs and you shouldn't have a designated bunker. He isn't locked to any unit, place him wherever you feel he has good positioning and is safe. I also have him as a BSB with the Flaming banner so I can join skinks and give them flaming poison if I need to wound an Abomb or something with regen. In an average game hes been in several different unit. I always take Higher State to be safe though, its pretty cheap for what it does. Just don't think of him as immortal just cause mundane stuff can't hurt him, you still need to be careful.
2000 points total. So 800 core needed. I work that out to 1 Skrox unit and 2 saurus units for about 900. Or 1 Skrox, 1 Saurus and 2 units of 10 Skirmishers for exactly 800.
One of my favorite ways to run a Slann is without the Temple Guard. I run him with etheral, loremaster, and +1 dice. I also give him the amulet that gives him +2 ward save vs magic/ range and the cupped hands. The lore I take with him is Light. The lizardmen units get sick with your ability to easly have 2-3 units in range of his AOE light spells. I also run him byhimself but within 3 inches of a a saurus unit so I also get a +4 look out sir. Your list so far is pretty close to what I run normaly.
I run him Ethereal in a block of Saurus when I make him a Death Slann, I then run them into CC and Purple Sun whatever is in front of me. No need to be taking out front rank of TG with Purple Sun after all.
