First off, proud to be a lizardmen player. Love the models, and I've always been into dinosaurs so the choice was obvious. Long time 40k player, Dark Eldar. Ok, I made a 500 point list to learn to play with out of the batallion. Built, this. 4 Cold One Riders 12 Saurus Warriors, Spears. 10 Skinks, Blow pipes. 1 Scar Veteran, Cold One, Light Armor, Burning Blade of Chotec, Enchanted Shield Played two games. Game 1, Ogres He played, 3 Bulls, 3 Iron Guts, 1 Butcher, 1 Yetti, 20 Gnoblar. T1- Movement to get into place to get ready for him, CoR went stupid. (Great first impression for them. ) He just came towards me T2- More movement, failed shooting with skinks at the gnoblar(Only unit in range) CoR went stupid again. He just came closer. T3- Skinks do nothing, warriors get ready for charge, CoR go stupid again... He got the charge off with Bulls and Iron Guts to my warriors. T4- Warriors hold them up, me just taking a beating, skinks kil Butcher, CoR run the Gnoblars off the table. Warriors and Ogres still tied up. T5- Warriors run off table, skinks fail shots at Iron Guts, CoR turn around to face Ogres, He runs his yeti over the skinks. T6- No range, nothing happened. I Killed a butcher, Run gnoblars off, and 2 wounds to the Iron Guts. He killed all 12 warriors, 10 skinks. Game 2- Bretonians I ran same list. He ran 1 palidan, 11 Skirmish bowmen, 2 squads of 6 knights full command.. Basically, the knights ran off the CoR on turn 3, only killing the paly in a challenge, the skinks take out the bowmen, then the warriors tarpit the knights for 3 turns to get ran over from resolution turn 6. My loss, CoR, Scar Vet, 2 Skinks, 12 Warriors. His loss, 11 Bowmen, 1 Paladin, 5 knights. I think my list may just be weak, plus against fantasy experienced players. Not a fan of the Cold Ones or even a scar vet at such low points, gonna try this out next time unless someone else would have an adviseable idea. 10 Temple Gaurd, Revered Gaurdian, Standard - 174pts 10 Saurus Warriors, Spears - 120pts 10 Saurus Warriors, Spears - 120pts 10 Skinks, Blow Pipes - 70pts
Re: 500 points, and first two games. New player. Critque please. Hi and welcome! Just a couple of points you may not be aware of, you have to have at least 5 coldone rider rank-and-file models in a unit, they're listed in their entry as 5 +, meaning you need at least 5 for a legal unit. Also, your required to have at least 1 character to lead your army, If your not keen on the scar vet you might want to try a skink priest for a bit of magic support. This is presuming of course you don't have any special arrangements with your opponents and are looking to make a legal list as per the book. Personally I'd look at more skinks, in either list, also, Im not a fan of Temple Guard in small points games, as you don't have many points to spare, Saurus are generally the go for me, at least till 1000pts where you can afford to splurge a bit for the extra Armour save. So with your new list I'd personally drop the TG, shrink the skinks to 10, get a 2nd unit of skinks (if you don't mind getting another box of them, as theres only 12 in the battalion) and either a cheap scar vet on foot or a cheap skink priest.
Re: 500 points, and first two games. New player. Critque please. In 500 point warbands you don't have to for either of those statements. Just a squad leader to be marked as general. And Im really just trying to keep it as the bettalion box for now. tight on cash and got the box for free.
Re: 500 points, and first two games. New player. Critque please. Ahh, no worries then, didn't know you were playing warbands. Thought it was a general 500pt list No worries then!
Played a game last night against wood elves using the last posted list on my first post. 10 Temple Guard, Revered Gaurdian, Standard - general 10 Saurus Warriors, spears 10 Saurus Warriors, spears 10 Skink Skirmishers VS 10 Glade Gaurd 10 Glade Gaurd 5 Glade Riders 8 dryads... I think that was the count I deployed first, ending up with one Saurus warrior to get flank, and one saurus warriors screening the temple gaurd from arrows. t1- t3 Just moving forward, losing a base of warriors that were screening the tample gaurd because of a stand and shoot reaction on 1 saurus >.> temple gaurd failed the charge. And the warriors going for the flank got one group of GG on the charge, overran them, and charged straight into the flank of the other GG and dryads t4 the temple gaurd got the charge and that was the end of it At the end of the game he had 5 Glade Riders and I had 10 temple gaurd, 3 warriors, 5 skinks. Annalysis of the game, Dryads are NASTY! on my charge they killed three warriors and I didn't kill any of them. Next game he said he was going to drop the riders and take more dryads. The pepering of all the arrow fire was very discouraging as I was marching forward, lost 11 warriors and 2 skinks before I even got any chance to damage. My first victory! record is now 1-2
2 more games, against 2 different Warriors of Chaos list, 2 more wins! Advice on my next investment? A kroxigor was just given to me so I don't think I need another one for awhile.
