    Hi guys,

as a long time painter/modeller i have decided i want to learn how to play the game. I have a limited amount of lizardmen models and was wondering if anyone could halp advise me what models i will need to make first a 500 point army then eventually grow it to 100 points.

    MODELS I OWN:
    skink priest x2
    skink chief with sword
    skink chief with sickle thing
    skinks with blowpipes x12
    saurus warriors x16
    saurus cold one cavalry x7
    terradons x2
scar vet x1 (bits to convert more)

MODELS I LIKE AND WOULD LIKE TO OWN:
    salamanders (love these models)
    chameleon skinks
    a slann eventually
probably will need more skinks and saurus

any advise would be really appreciated!! :smug:

PLEASE NOTE: i will be playing against my friends beastmen

Beastmen and Lizardmen are pretty similar unit-wise. Saurus and Gors. Skinks and Ungors. Kroxigor and Minotaurs. Kinda neat.

In a 500 point army the big question is what kind of character do you want? Magic or Combat? The rest will fall in line after that.

For a 500 to 1000pt army, you've got enough heros.
Minimum unit size for terradons is 3, so you'd want at least one more.
Chameleon skinks are great! Converting them from regular skinks is easy, if you don't want to pay through the nose.
You won't be fielding a slann until 1500pts minimum, so don't worry too much about him, yet.

any thoughts on a 1000ish or so points list using:

    3 x kroxigor
    13 x skink skirmishers
    16 x saurus
    1 x skink priest
    1 x scar vet
1 x scar vet on cold one
    5 x cold one cavalry

would this be too large an army to start with and should i leave out models and play some smaller points games first?

i think the army il be playing will have access to models for 10 bestigor, 10 ungor, 20 gors, 10 warhounds, 1 chieftain guy, 1 bray shaman, and 1 chariot

any and all suggestions are welcome as i have absolutely zero experience ever actually playing warhammer (or indeed any tabletop wargame!)

    thanks in advance! :smug:

    my advices are:
    -drop the priest
-use the hero on foot as an oldblood and put him in the saurus block
-use the mounted hero as a mounted scar vet and put him in the cavalry unit
-use your kroxigors to destroy the chariot
    -use your skinks smartly

he has got more close combat units than you, but if you take an enemy unit's flank with your oldblood or scar vet alone you should destroy the unit. Always try to get a flank charge with your cavalry, and don't let the chariot charge you

Having played 2 games againts 2 different beastman players very recently I would just advise you to get as much shooting as possible. Those skinks with blowpipes dominate against those beasties with little or no armorsave. Poison all the way! A skink chief with flying(magic item thingy, or buy some more terradons) is also cool to deny him marching, will give you more control over the map.

Just spread out the flanks, take out whatever chariot or fastmoving stuff he puts there and circle around him. I've had good luck with using the Blood statue of Spite to take out enemy wizards early in the game, so thats also a fun little way to get an advantage.
