Hey, one of our staff members has come up with a plan and a sort of tournie, everyone must write a 500pt list with 1 wizard, 1 other hero and the rest skirmish units It is designed to help people play more tactically, there are going to be other rules to make it more fun of course but here is my list C+C please Skink warchief Light armour, shield Pihrana blade bane head Skink priest cloak of feathers 10 Skink skirmishers 10 Rank Skinks (full com) + Krox Salamander + 1 hander 481 points I believe that comes to I was thinking on ditching the Sally and taking 3 Terradons what do you guys think? Cheers Conar
Terradons are an excellent choice no matter what, they will help assassinate those pesky mages, weak units (which there is alot of in 500 pts!) and at this limit not much will be on the board, leaving them to fly around and harass as they please also, with the 9 points left after this, I recommend dropping the bane head, and using the 24 pt total to get something else... (not many models have 4 wounds at 500 pts....)
How do you figure? The units you will be using will be just as 'weak' as your oppnents. Proper army construction at this points level is key. The scale of weakness just happens to change from what you typcially see at higher values.
I meant there wont be gigantic Vampire count units with the magical banners and a completely decked out vampire, that sort of thing, If people do that, they will have only 1-2 units. Also, smaller units happen more often in 500 point games, because people are starving for points
You are correct when comparing larger versions of units seen in 2000+pt games to 500 point units. They are weaker by comparison. However, like you said, everyone is starving for points at this level so there are likely to be a good number of 'weak' units on both sides of the board. The weakness is relative the comparitive value. I find a single unit consiting of one Kroxigor to be an incredible advantage at 500 points or less. A unit of one Kroxigor is considered weak in larger point games, not to mention illegal.
Yeah, i will keep the skink cheif line up as he is I think as he has not protection, and a 1 chance hit K.O would be lovely (there is going to be 2 ogre armys - both deny all the rules ¬_¬) if after a few games i need protection for him, i'd take away the blade and give him maybe the mirror shield or the other shield + I agree terradons seem more fun + reliable than sallies + We cant take 1 Krox alone so i've put him in skinks
If you are using normal Warband rules then yes you may take a single Kroxigor. Normal rules don't allow for such a unit setup.
for your list i advise ditching the sally and adding terradons and putting your chief on one it with a spear such a flying unit will probably give you the advantage in the movement phase and do to your ban head u still do 2 wounds witch is perfect for this size of game. good luck
