Hi all, I was wondering if any of you could help me with a 500 points Lizardmen list. I will be facing WoC mainly, maybe some OaG - tomorrow, however any help will be appreciated as these players are just about the only players I get to play with.

This is the catch: I don't have any salamanders...

I have most things and will be able to field just about anything you say apart from - the aforementioned salamanders, kroxigor - shouldn't be too much of a problem, and terradons. I have one terradon, if that can make much of a difference, but I do have up to 9 Chameleon Skinks. Yippee.

Any help you can give will be much appreciated, and I will be sure to tell you how it went tomorrow.

    Thanks
    Larinus

You are probaly not going to beat him in cloce combat consistantly,
so you might go for s skink comando team with a scar ver general.

Would you have any SW at all other than the Scar - Vet? If so, won't he be a bit vulnerable out on his own? Could you have an effective Skink Chief/Priest led list?

Well you could put the scar vet on a capld one or a horned one for mobility and extra armor...
runing a priest wouldn't be a bad idea either.

I've heard that Skink Priests and, more importantly Heavens, aren't what they used to be. Is this thought shared by the majority?

    Heavens was good in 6th,
    worse in 7th.
    got better in 8th.

Is it better than 6th... not sure.
    but definately better than 7th.

In my opinion heavens is a very good and underrated list.

Comet of Casandory has a fairly low casting-value and will either force him to move his troops according to your will or take some serious damadge (at the least 2d6+1 S5 hits in a 2d6 radius).

Uranos thunderbolt and chain-lightning are also good against tougher opponents since they give you S6 hits which will cut through that chaos armour with ease.

On top of these spells I realy like the combination of harmonic convergence and curse of the midnight wind when it comes to close combat since it will seriously tip the odds in your favour and will give a saurus unit the upper hand even when going up against WoC.

Iceshard blizzard is great against a shooting army.

Wind-blast has its uses but will be hard to use effectively.

Personally I like this lore and I think it is still a valid alternative to many other lists (even though life and light are probably the best in the game), especially against T4 heavy armoured stuff.

I prefer to use a skink at lvl 2 with the plaque of Tepok. This will give you 3 spells and will often give you a double so that you can choose which spell you want the mst.

Flying priest with rod of storm. Cheap, effective and one massive pain in the backside.
Possibly consider the idea of 3-4 10 man skirmishers with the priest most of the time you can use the priest to blow away any shooting units and run circles round chaos warriors and the like.
See although you are restricted in what you take at 500pts you can pretty much rule out most non-core units in WOC.
