Hey guys take a look at this and tell me what you think: Skink priest Lvl2 Rod of the Storm, Cloak of Feathers 10 Blowpipe Skink skirmishers 10 Javelin and Shield Skink skirmishers 4 terradon riders 1 Salamander w/4 handlers I am thinking about using this in my shops next Ladder league. Any thoughts? Normally not a lot of cover or terrain just 2-3 bits at most. Best players normally play Skaven and Chaos Warriors. Thanks in advance.
Here's my version of a 500 point army (though i never really play that small games) Skink Priest lvl 2 100 Skink Priest lvl 2 100 Scar-veteran 160 cold one light armour Maiming Shield Burning Blade of Chotec Skink Skirmishers 70 Skink Skirmishers 70 Total: 500 pts. Power dices: 6 dispell dices: 4 this list is just some hard hitting shit, and the gear on the scar-vet means he has 1+ save against ranged and 1+ in close combat (you can't get better than that) and he causes fear, have magical attacks and +1 attack and additional -2 armour save that means -4 armour save on everything, so he's also a hero killer. i based my list upon an VC army i played against many times which had wraiths with banshees, means only magic or magic weapons can do anything here, so what you do is charge the wraiths with 10 skinks and your scar-vet, so he can't stand and shoot your scar-vet down. the amount of priest's with lvl 2 means you don't even need scrolls, i bet you won't meet any army with over 6 power dices in 500 point armies. so that's my version of a small army, you can try it out if you like or just take some ideas from it hope you find any use of my list.
ooo fancy! I like it but I don't know how my opponents would feel. Might bring it for the last couple of challenge games. How about the same list but taking the scar vet out for some terradons or Salamanders?
it depends on which army you're against, against etheral units you won't make it without the scar-vet i don't think this list is cheesy at all, it's a small game, and everything can happen even though you prepare with a great list and train skills, my experience tells me that 500 point games can fall to both sides, it depends on luck and nothing else, there's simply not any tactic in it, but it's fun for a warm up. the list is fully legal and your opponent have the same chance for a list like yours. like i said i hope you can use for something, if not the whole list then for inspiration at least
Hmmm... I think in such a small game Hero-hammer should be avoided. An army consisting of only 23 models, with only one model with an armor save, would be very easily beaten by most opponents, especially those with many units. You don't need a hero-killer character in a 500 match, the opponent's general will almost assuredly not merit that much of a points investment to take out, especially if, as the OP says, there are skaven players. One of those could overrun such a small army in an instant anyways, especially if he sniped the scar-vet with one of their obscene cannons/jezzails/whatever. Get some sauruses! They are on the level of elite infantry but are core choices! They will rip up any troops but Chaos Mortals! The key to a 500 point battle is throwing out as many targets as possible within the points limit so that your army is hard to eradicate. This is why TK for example have an incredibly hard time in 500, because they are required to devote 215 points minimum to their characters in every game. Then they just don't have enough left over to create an effective battle line of units with. Therefore, lizard players must make the most of being able to take a sizable amount of troops in a small game. Skinks are cheap, effective shooters and Sauruses are killy enough to slaughter and outlast most of what is thrown at them. Our generic troops are good, show them love! Also, the scarvet should pretty much always have a unit to fight with, whether to let them use fear from his CO, as a place to jag-charm out from, or just as his combat resolution buddies. Even with cold-blooded, a lone scarvet, unless in a challenge, will eventually lose combat and flee against a whole unit. Edit: Wow.. I didn't think I was going to write so much when I hit "reply". Oh well.
