Slaan Mage Priest Becalming Cogitation Skink Priest on Ancient Stegadon Engine of the Gods 22 Saurus Musician and Standard Bearer 10 Saurus Standard Bearer 20 RnF Skinks Standard Bearer 2x 10 Skirmishing Skinks 4 Stegadons 1 Ancient Stegadon Before I throw out my ideas how this list should be used, I would like to see what the lizardmen fraternity has thinks of this list, and how viable is it in 8th Edition.
The list will work much like a Bretonnian list, you will rely on breaking things on the charge with a multiple charge senario. My big issue is this heavy reliance on synching all your charges with each other is hampered by your lack of small throw away units that are designed to allow you to fight on your terms such as terradons and skinks. The static combat res from a big block will overcome you unless you get 2 stegs in the front and 1 in the side, remeber you do not break ranks with stegadons in the flank anymore. You have failed to mention what lore your slann was taking which could change it all hugely.. if your planning on taking light that could be quite cool to have always strikes first stegadons with reroll to hit movement 10. Good Luck. Mike B
This list was planned in mind with blood and glory in mind, having standards to stay within the threshold Combining the 2 blocks would put the list dangerously low on standard count. The stegadons were not intended to break regiments on the charge, but to hold them, thunderstomp them and wait for reinforcments to arrive. Lore of light would be preferable to provide the buffs and protection against arty fire.
Hang on a second, what?! I thought all flank charges disrupted ranks? How come a stegadon doesn't do that anymore?
Stegadons have no ranks. You need a minimum of one rank of troops to negate rank bonuses on flank or rear charges, resolved after combat.
Oh, that makes sense, is this the same for the Arachnarok, Hellpit and other such big nasties? I'd hate to think we would be on the back foot D:
