My friend who collects Dwarves and Orcs and Goblins has shelved his Dwarves for a long time to play greenskins. Now he belatedly has the new book and wants to play a really big game. I wanted 5000 but he talked me up, fielding 1500 points of Core is painful. Hopefully we'll find time for this in January. Whenever I guess what this friend is bringing, I'm usually wrong. That being said, I'm going to guess he's going to go with the standard mostly great weapon wielding Core, four to six cannons and broad sampling of all the other Dwarf units except the Anvil of Doom (which was nerfed to oblivion). Josef Bugman is likely though I can't rule out any SC other than the guy with the Anvil of Doom. Slann Mage Priest, Lore of Light, BSB, Standard of Discipline, Harmonic Convergence, Reservoir of Eldritch Energy, Soul of Stone, Channeling Staff, Iron Curse Icon, General Slann Mage Priest, Lore of Shadow, Harmonic Convergence, Reservoir of Eldritch Energy, Soul of Stone, Forbidden Rod, Egg of Quango Old Blood, Sword of Might, Luckstone, Armor of Destiny, Shield Old Blood, Enchanted Shield, Ogre Blade, Potion of Speed, Light Armor, Talisman of Preservation 2 x 1 Scar Veteran, Light Armor, Great Weapon Skink Priest, L1 Heavens, Ancient Stegadon with EOTG and Unstoppable Stampede (basically just to squeeze in a fifth Stegadon). 40 Saurus Warriors with FC 39 Saurus Warriors with FC 64 Cohort Skinsk with FC and 1 Kroxigor (tarpit) 2 x 13 Sknk Skirmishers 4 x 5 Chameleon Skinks 33 Temple Guard with FC 32 Temple Guard with FC and Gleaming Pennant (for the non-BSB/General) 4 x 1 Ancient Stegadon with EOTG and Unstoppable Stampede Troglodon with Divining Rod I like Kroxigor but I figure they are only good at fighting big models and Dwarves have few of those. The one Kroxigor in the Skink Cohort is for the Ld7. I normally think two Slann armies should have one solo Slann and one bunkered Slann, but a solo Slann is going to be very vulnerable to magic artillery. I figure Cowboys would get shot to pieces pretty easily so I chose not to bring them. Salamanders and Razordon would probably not lay down enough damage to justify not spending most of my Rare points on EOTG Steggies. 5 EOTG is a lot of ward saves. I know they don't stack but my army is likely to be spread out and I expect some Steggies to die early. The two Slann are focused on hexes and buffs so I don't need an Arcane Vassal (I can use the EOTG to blast things anyway). Since I have well over a 100 Sauri, I figure my Troglodon might be useful. With 5 EOTG I doubt he'll be a priority target. I figure every Saurus/TG block will have a character. It almost goes without saying that the Oldbloods are going to be on Eternity Warden duty. I on the fence about reducing the Saurus block a bit and upping my Cohort to around 80. I'm also on the fence about the HW versus Spear debate. I might run one of each. I doubt the Chameleon Skinks will get an opening to kill war machines. I plan to deploy them defensively to keep Gyrocopters and Rangers at a safe distance, then shoot them with darts. The relative lack of space and lack of Skink Priests is why I'm only taking two units of Skink Skirmishers. I'm open to suggestions for changes. My model collection is impressive but it is not infinite. I cannot make large changes to the list without buying more models. Buying more LM is off the table right now until I can make more headway on my vast pile of unassembled VC and Empire. My unused models include a Bastiladon, a Carnosaur, five or six Terradons, 3 Rippers, all the SC except Maz, 3 Cowboys, lots of Skink characters, a pittance of unused Core, about 16 zombified Cold Ones, 6 Salamanders, 3 Razordons, and way too many Kroxigors.
