Ok - I'm gonna be paired up with a random Person for a doubles tourney, and I need to build a list that can take all comers:

Now I have several questions - Do I take a Skink Priest or a Scar Veteran ?
Do I try and take some magic defence or just leave it ?
And What would you guys use unit wise ?
I was thinking of Getting a small unit of Saurus cav, Some Saurus, Skinks and Maby a Scar vet on Cold one.

What do you guys think ? How should I go to work ?

I have a tendacy to go with the SV at that points value. Despite the fact that you'll loose a lot of magic defense at that level, I wouldn't expect to see a lot of 750 point lists bringing a lot of casting die. Most likely you will face some but I don't think that you'll face magic that will absolutely need to have some kind of counter. Will you take a couple magic missles in games where casters are present? Most likely. Who knows, you might get thrown in with a magic heavy partner which will ultimately strengthen your army as a whole.

As far as units, I'd go with a big block of sarus 18+ (?) to hide your SV in, and supplement with at least one unit of skinks. Cavalry or Krox seem like your best bet for fast moving flanker, but you may have good luck with a stegadon since overall games will be 1500 points per side.

I'm sure this will be discussed at length here but I think this is a good starting point that you can build from.

Definitly scar vet here, I'd suggest gearing him up with a cold one and weapon, turn him into a real character hunter because at 750 points, you aren't likely to come across anything that can best him in CC and losing a general is a sharp blow to any force.

After that you will want a solid block of saurus, 15(?) with spears of course.
A small unit of skinks, and (5?) CoR's

By giving the SV a CO, even if he stays with the block, they benefit from the fear making them even tougher.

    Just my opinions anywho

OK - Current 750 Points List:

    Heroes

    Scarvet + Shield + Light Armor - 93 Points
Skink Priest + Diadem of Power - 90 Points

    Core

    2x 10 Skink Skirmishers - 140

17 Saurus Warriors with full command - 217

    Special:

5x Saurus Cav with Champion and Standard - 215

    Total: 755 Points

Now where can I shave points so I can get to 750 ? Is it a bad idea to go with the diadem for magic defence rather than the Scroll ? I'm just thinking it would be a bit more usefull - or am I wrong ? What can I do to get to 750 Points ?

Get rid of the saurus champ and you'd be less than 750...I ALWAYS take the diadem, because it means that no nasty warplightning gets me!

for one the scar-vet can't take arcane items so the diadem is out but just to shake guys up you could take a EotG you would be to only "lvl. 3" caster on the table plus you would have a big scary thing on the board not to mention that in those small games big shooters ie. RBT's, organ guns, stuff like that do insane amounts of damage to units and the protection would probally be very welcome to any partner as for what else to take you are down to 300 points so not a whole lot else but just a thought

looks pretty good epacially if your partner gets the magic defence you need but i would give the scar-vet a weapon even if it is just a spear because that makes him alot more dangerous.
