Well I think I'm going to try Lizardmen for our local 3 month escalation league. this league ends with a 1500 pt tournament. Out here in Portland things are kept pretty friendly and fluffy so taking that into account I think I'll be going slannless. I just don't see them fluff wise why when there are so few left, and even fewer awake at any given time are they out leading a rather small force. This thought will most likely permeate until I get to at least 2400 and maybe even 3000 unless I'm really shooting myself in the foot. I've heard on some podcsts that saurus just can't cut the mustard unless they have a slann backing them up. So here is my 750. Any comments are greatly appreciated along with any advice on what I should add come escalation time up to 1500. Hero: Scar Vet Sword of hornet, Enchanted shield, Light armor Core: 16 Skinks 19 Saurus Hand weapon shield Special: 5 Cold one Cavalry 3 Kroxigors 749 Things to add as points go up Old one at least 2 skink priests Scar vet bsb another block of saurus Krox goes into skinks Chameleon skinks Some kind of stegadon maybe Engine maybe not (thoughts?) Either salamanders or razordons (not sure here, being fluffy would go towards razor but without a slann I might be able to justify a little filth) Thanks for the input.
At low point games like these you can definitely roll without a Slann, so no worries there. Do you have to keep the same basic list as the games progress, or are you allowed to revamp the entire thing to fit the new point cap? As for your saurus not cutting the mustard, that can be true on occasion. Saurus will eat through any troops that are S3 T3. Anything above that starts to give them issues. But that is where the rest of your list comes into play! The list you are showing gives you 2 hammer troops to support the saurus. Just keep them on the flanks. If you are really keen on taking Krox, you should throw them into your skink unit. They perform much better that way. Otherwise turn those skinks into skirmishers if you want an independent unit of skinks. Your thoughts on list advancement seem good. Salamanders beat razordons every time. It wouldn't hurt to add them sooner than later.
In your advancements you say your going to add an Old one- do you mean Oldblood, or do you intend to field one of the lost Gods? I wish I could have Sotek in my list...
