A quick list I made for a battle with some friends. Going to try to absolutely dominate the magic phase. Not for serious playing. This is for 2000 points. Lord Slann mage priest Disciplines: Immune to nonmagic, MR3, Bonus dice, knows one lore Items: Cupped hands of the old one, curse charm of tepok, bane head, powerstone. BSB: Plaque of Dominion Heroes Skink priest LVL2 Items: Cube of Darkness EotG Skink priest LVL2 Items: Plaque of Tepok, Blood statuette EotG Skink Priest LVL2 Powerstone Core 2x10 skink skirmishers 11 Skink skirmishers Brave Special 12 temple guards Full command Revered guardian carries carnosaur pendant
Hehe, even a tzeentch army including kairos should be weary your magic. Although, as you've already pointed out, this army has its flaws elswere then in the magic phase. Would be fun to try in a friendly fight though Go show them chaos gods what our toad is built of
Looks like a list that'll be alot of fun to play! As for you Tzeentch... *Watches as Tzeentch is trampled by Mazdammundi* Much better!
I would very much like to use Mazdamundi, but he really just doesn't have anything to justify his him being more then 600 points. Sure he rides a stegadon, but a normal slann can get the 2+ ward save item, plus regular slann get to choose up to 4 of the disciplines. Mazdamundi only has 2. Three if you count the terror from his stegadon. The ruination of cities spell has been severely nerfed from its old version, and for a 13+ casting spell it only does what many much cheaper spells do. Even his weapon which looks awesome on paper would be rather useless in actual combat, because to bring Mazdamundi into CC is to lose a 4th lvl mage for one turn. The slann special characters are rather disappointing this edition. Might take kroak once, just to laugh at my friends orc horde army, and kroaks 4 foot circle spell.
I wouldn't say that exactly. The thing with Mazdammundi is that he's not a bad caster, although he's not great easy, and Ruination of Cities I wouldn't call nerfed. Keep in mind the old Kroak was accurate at his 1066 point cost, or whatever it was. Plus, if what I've read other places here is correct, you can still put him with a unit if you wanted. Personally I think he's great because he's the only Slann with an amazing armor save, can destroy magic weapons, and his mount is a absolute beast in combat. He's the kinda Magic Caster (which only Tzeentch has) that allows us to blast opponents with magic until our enemies get close enough to threaten him in combat, in which case we blast the hell out of them.
don't forget that he can be a awsome flanker and would have a US of 8 or so with impact hits and a decent weapon it is pretty scary I think he would be fun in a one off game here and there
