I played a second 800 points battle against Skaven. Here is the report: The army lists were unchanged – see my previous thread. From my prospective, there was one Temple of Skulls on the very left of the battlefield in the middle. I deployed (from left to my right) Saurus, Saurus, Skink skirmishers with the Skink Priest, and the Salamander. He deployed (from my left to right) Plague monks, clanrats with level 2 engineer and warpfire thrower, Doomwheel, with his gutter runners in reserve. The Lizardmen won the first turn. I advanced both of my Saurus towards his lines, but kept them at a slight angle so the Saurus unit on the right did not expose its flank to the doomwheel. I moved my Skink unit and Salamander straight forwards, but left my Skink priest behind, who moved very slightly to his left. In the magic phase, my Comet was dispelled, but I successfully cast the fireball spell from the ruby ring and took out his warpfire thrower. In the shooting phase, my Salamander killed 11(?) clanrats (they pass their panic check) but my skinks failed to wound the doomwheel. His Plague monks and clanrats stay put. His doomwheel rolls straight into the flank of my Salamander unit. In his magic phase, he irresistibly cast warp lightning and put a wound on my priest, and four clanrats died due to his miscast. His shooting phase saw the doomrocket take out my priest and 6 Saurus (they did not panic). His doomwheel impact hits killed my Salamander and over ran 8”, just 1.5” from my Saurus unit. In my turn, the Saurus on the right charge the doomwheel (passing Terror), and the Saurus on the left fail to charge the plague monks. The Skinks move around the doomwheel-Saurus combat, and open fire on the clanrats, taking out 2. The doomwheel manages to kill one Saurus, whilst my Saurus put a wound on the doomwheel, which loses combat by 3, and rolls off the board. My Saurus reform to face his clanrats. In his turn, he charges! The clanrats hurtle into the front of my Saurus unit on the RHS, and the monks charge headlong into the front of my other Saurus unit on the LHS. No shooting. The plague monks kill two Saurus, and I kill nine back, they lose and break but I fail to chase them down. The clanrats kill two Saurus, and I kill 4. They lose combat, flee, and are run down. End of game. Lizardmen victory by over a 400 points margin! (Because the gutter runners did not arrive by the end of the game) What do you think? Any changes I should make to my list or tactics?
