As I mentioned before I would be participating in some small skirmish battles at 800 pts so we could manage to do a bracket at my home store in the matter of an afternoon. No big prizes or anything just 20 bucks store credit or something, but it's more of an excuse to get the new players in or some of the other guys to field some of those models from starter boxes. Quite a few Skaven and High Elves will be there. Anyhow here is my list. I'd appreciate any ideas, But I mostly went with what I had painted or could finish painting by this weekend. Lvl 2 Heavens Skink w/Dispell Scroll Lvl 1 Beasts Skink 10 Skink Skirmishers w/blowpipes 10 Skink Cohort w/javelins 30 Saurus w/spears and a Standard Bearer Bastilidon w/ Solar Engine. I like the idea of the Bastilidon with a nasty bound spell, and the fact that he can hold up a flank pretty well. The only issue being that my army is only LD6 besides the saurus. I realize coldblooded helps, but that's rough for the skinks and the bastilidon and on the off chance I fail with the saurus it could just be game over. The only option I see is a Scar vet in place of a priest, but a BSB for a re-roll is too pricy and just the scar vet still limits my magic greatly. I also thought of doing 25 saurus with spears SBw/ standard of discipline and spawn leader with ironcurse icon and throwing the remainder into 5 more skinks for the cohort, but can I put equipment on the spawn leader? It' dosn't give me a points limit in the codex. Thanks for your input.
I wasn't digging the lack of leadership in the last list so I revamped it so an unluck LD check doen't wreck the game. Skink Priest Lvl 1 Beasts (Wyssans): Dispell Scroll Scar Vet: Iron Curse Icon, Enchanted Shield, Sword of Might Saurus w/spears x24 Standard Bearer with Gleaming Pennant. (Scar Vet) Skink Cohort w/javelins x14 (Priest) Skink Skirmishers w/blow pipes x10 Bastilidon w/solar engine. This provides me with good leadership and I can either try to get my opponent to use his power dice to against my Beam of Chotec if I'd like to get off Wyssans or vice versa. And I can spam the beam without worrying about a miscast. Which list would you take?
I think your second list is a better choice Just remember that in small games magic is generally underpowered, when you only have 2 spells to cast that means the opponent only has2 to dispel. You see far fewer spells get off in small games vs big ones (thanks gw for lack of scaling) though ofc you can throw 6 dice for an IF more frequently in a small game, so yay beam of chotec
Yah I just finished the second list; it seemed the better choice although I figured out a way to make my Scarvet my BSB so I'm going that route to reroll all failed LD checks. He suffers a little on wargear, but I don't lose any combat res. Plus I get the oppurtunity to convert and paint awesome BSB model tonight. I hope I have enough time to make him badass and use more than the required 4 colors and basing. I'll let you guys know how it goes in the Batrep section.
