Hey guys,
I'm currently starting a lizard men army and I have a colour scheme in mind, I want the main body to be reddish/orange with the scaly backs being brown, eyes green and the spines on the back a shiny black so they look like obsidian or something similar, quite volcanic looking I guess, Anyway here were the paints I was thinking, are they a good idea?

Main body: Troll slayer orange, washed reikland fleshshade (that seemed to be the closest wash to red) then a dry brush highlight with the TS orange

Scales: Skrag brown, washed with nuln oil (?) Then highlighted with the brown again

Spines I was thinking just black then a gloss varnish

Do you guys think this would work?

Also, does anyone have suggestions on bases? I was thinking grey to go with the lava-ish colours

Thanks,
Rowanthedawg

It's pretty hard to give you good advice without seeing the model obviously, but from what you described and what I am picturing in my head, that sounds like the right color choices and it should look pretty awesome!

Anxious to see your first test model!

I don't find Troll slayer covers very well, i would paintthe model another orange first, then paint them troll slayer, i use Jekara (i believe) and then paint troll slayer on my models incorporating orange.

Sooo something like this ? ;)
