    Hey Guys,

I just got back into Warhammer and decided to start LM. This board has been very helpful in answering my questions but i have one more.

does the +2 strength from the warspear on a charge make it 2D6 strength 7 hits (reg steg of course) ??
I think i'm going with a reg because it doesn't take up a rare spot, costs less, and if the above is true the +1 strength of the a. steg doesn't really matter. Thanks for the help!!

The strength bonus from the lance would not help out the stegs impact hits, either the ones he regularly gets or the extra ones the lance bestows (because the description says the beast still does them, not the lance). Also you can't take the spear without a warchief, and you don't take up a rare or special slot with a character's mount. Stegs only take up a special or rare slot if you don't have a character on them.

Well... I can't comment on the +2 strength (never even thought of that...) I've never used the Warspear steg.

However, I will say that if you take the stegadon as the chief's mount, it only takes up 1 hero slot. The mount essentially is free when it comes to the FOC. I guess it really depends on what you want but I do like the regular stegadon better. It has an additional attack and has an initiative 2 which means it strikes before some things, certainly before great weapons, and is twice as resistant to pit of shades-like spells. The Ancient stegadon is 40points more and has +1 strength and 3+ armor save which is always nice.

Regardless, I like the regular stegadon better. The extra strength takes it from 7 to 8 which is rather pointless except against T6 opponents... which are few.

Ohh i just figured it took up a rare spot. I plan of buying another steg and giving it EoTG. So that a.steg wouldnt count as a rare choice either? If so, awesome!

    Also whats FOC?

    Force Organization chart.

It's the name of the break down of slots in 40k. I just used the term because I don't know what the name is for fantasy...

where do you get S 7 or 8? Stegadon is str 5 and Ancient is Str 6. I have never seen the Warspear give +2 str to impact hits. just the additional d6 to the number of impact hits for (2d6+1)

    Just a rules confusion.

I'm glad you got it to work though thgilifeguard! Just watch out for that artillery and you should be golden!

Also, remember that the stegs cause terror so if you flank a unit with less than unit strength 10 (10 infantry models or 5 cavalry models) and they don't cause terror then you autobreak them if you beat them in combat. Could be useful when you charge that hugely expensive unit of chaos knights...

The +2 strength DOES apply to the chief's attacks. Don't forget it counts as a lance, so the chief will be hitting on strength 6.

And I think your right, most ppl tend to forget that! or try to apply it to the impact hits also.

    You almost got it right...

The stegadon does 2d6+1 impact hits at strength 5

    and seperately

The chief hits at strength 6 (his str 4+ 2 for lance bonus)

the first time i read it...looked like it was being applied to the impact hits, which is wrong lol.

ya, ppl tend to forget the +2 str for the lance on the chief's personal 3 attacks.

Lol, sweet! I just added a skink chief on an Ancient Steggy with the war spear... can't wait to see the look on my opponent's face when he hears that a skink is strength 6! Really throws people for a loop!

Will do. I assembled the Steggy last night and should have it painted by this weekend. I'll post some pics when it's done.
