Potential spoilers for some btw, So Lileath the elven maiden goddess reveals to a character that in truth, the gods where nothing more than survivors of the last world, imbued with mighty powers and that the warhammer world as we know it has been part of a cycle. It is also explained that that many characters (at least many Elven characters) are the avatars of these gods, some in more overt forms others having the power passed down via bloodlines (from what I can gather). She sends Araloth and their daughter to find a new world and start over as the new pantheon. My questions now being: Where do the Old Ones fit in all of this? Are they also survivors from the previous cycles? Is Sotek one of the gods who survived through the lizard men? Or are the Old ones merely arrivals who showed up in this universe and began altering the world and with their warpgates allowed chaos to track down the survivors from their last assault? Has anyone else had similar thoughts?
YES!! I am so glad others saw this loophole! Who the old ones was in this universe, I dont know, but my guess is that the lizardmen that travel to the next universe / bubble will be that universes equivalent. only problem: Slann will have to find out how to create more slann, or something to substitute it.
My thoughts when I heard this was: The old ones arrived at the new planet (The current one we are on). Here, knowing that Chaos would find them sooner or later, they created the lizardmen, a race whose purpose was to fight, in order to fight against the coming of Chaos. In other words, the old ones always knew that Chaos would arrive, and probably also knew they would likely win once again, hence why we now have flying pyramids. The "Great Plan" was likely to avert the end times, and defeat chaos before it got as powerful as it is, but it failed, hence Mazdamundis "The Great Plan has Failed" moment. Now, Lizardmen being "spawned" seems to indicate they aren't descendants from the previous cycles, but a new addition to it. Which is not good, from a Lizardmen perspective, because it means that a potential exodus, leaving our spawning pools behind, would mean we lose all chances of new spawnings, and become a rapidly dying race of warriors who cannot reproduce. Or maybe we do die out, only to be respawned by the new pantheon. If the Lizardmen go out with a bang, the new "gods" would likely find it a good idea to spawn a new lizardmen race, based on the current one. Maybe even make them less stupid, and most importantly, not be complete amatuers at fighting, despite being made solely for that purpose.
They spawn and come from jungles or caverns deep BENEATH temples. It's on page 5 from 7th edition army book. :-(
If the Exodus engines were a backup plan the Old Ones devised It would make sense to take the spawning pools with them to rebuild their numbers. This makes sense, but it creates a few more quandaries. Were the survivors Lileath was a part of the same group as the old ones, or a different group? If they weren't, were any of these other gods aware of the old ones, their plans and the lizardmen in relation to such? If they were why did they not coordinate or attempt to reach out to the Slann?
After the loss of the Spawning Pools, the Lizardmen...ahem....adapt. Consult the Sacred Plaque of Middle School Health Class.
anyone thought about that the Dragon Isles might be all that is left of us when the last ships take of? Why wonder what we will do without spawning pools when there are those? Also: remember that itty bit of text in the book that speaks of Slann who ventured out in the world? He might live.
This: So Lileath the elven maiden goddess reveals to a character that in truth, the gods where nothing more than survivors of the last world, imbued with mighty powers and that the warhammer world as we know it has been part of a cycle. Sounds like they are now just making up fluff that contradicts the entire history of fantasy to fit in with this new storyline. GG GW.
