I usually run two blocks of saurus and I want to put a scar-vet in each but I like to kit my vets so they are more unit huffs. My first one has the crown and shrieking sword or whatever. How can I kit the second one to best benefit the unit he is in?
One of the big limiting factors for saurus can be that S4 isn't always enough against high toughness or heavily armoured targets, so a scar-vet which can provide a few S7 attacks is generally a helpful boost in combat.
if you are bound on giving him an item that's beneficial to the unit try magic resistance it doesn't come into play a lot but it does protect you from magical vortexes, magic missiles and death snipes
Ironcurse Icon is a great throw-in item to help protect your unit from war machines. The lines have been blurred as to what actually qualifies as a war machine (some things shoot like one, but don't count as one) anymore. My problem is trying to remember what this helps me from (does it help against salamanders, ironblasters, scraplauncher, burning chariots of tzeench, Arachnarok flinger, cygor, etc., etc.?). I can't keep track anymore of what counts and what doesn't.
I'd have to go with Gor-Rok as well. As much as I dislike special characters. Without special characters I'd have to agree with Tecuani: the extra damage helps out the unit most. This is why I always put a Scar Vet into any Saurus Cavalry units I take.
Thanks for the feedback guys, I think I will go with sword of might, armor of fortune and potion of foolhardiness which could provide a nasty surprise with PF.
Sword of Might is a good call. I miss Burning Blade, though Give him the Pidgeon Plucker Pendant, so you don't have to worry about Chimeras, Pegasus Masters, Disc heroes or Frost Phoenixes ruining your blocks. Add the Potion of Speed to help in challenges, get those S6 attacks in before Knights or Monstrous Cavalry hit you, or frustrate those pesky High Elves! You can then add Spellshield for the Magic Resistance, if you really want it, or grab Dragonhelm or Enchanted Shield to get that 2+ armour save. I'd probably go with the Helm as its the cheapest of the two, and gives you that 2++ vs Flaming Attacks. This is a fairly flexible build that won't go around flipping tables like Scar-Vet cowboys do, but it will really help the block he's in.
